Strange market this Cobra thing. Some cars sell quickly others linger a long time. The price on this one is reasonable, the 427 is a big draw. It's got the Calif approval. Things that make you go, hmmmmmmmmm

Well that makes sense then. Not trying to hard for fear you might succeed.

Default Awesome car

I just came back from seeing this car in person. Here is some info for those that may be interested:

First, Bill is a damn nice guy! Very down to earth and friendly. The pictures don't do this car justice, it's in much better shape than I thought (from the pics). The engine started right up on the first shot. I didn't notice any paint defects either (no spider cracks) - and a good paint job. I didn't notice any engine leaks either.

Bill was kind enough to take me for a nice cruise. The engine ran very strong and didn't skip a beat. And needless to say, the sound of the 427 side oiler brings a non-removable grin to the face of anyone sitting in it! :-)

Strong points: Original 427 SO engine, California SB100 registration (and I consider this a big deal), good paint job without cracks, and the general overall look is awesome (tires fit the wheel wells perfectly), black side pipes (although the pictures show chrome, Bill has changed it out).

Things I would change (and these are personal in nature): Better gauges (maybe Smith), remove bumper for quick jacks, change the look of the stick shift, add slider control for the driver's seat (Bill is over 6' tall and I'm only 5'6" - I'd have to tiptoe the clutch), and possibly change out the carpet (kinda worn in some places).

I am currently seriously considering purchasing this car. I want to look at a few more before making my final decision on my first Cobra. I know posting this will attract more attention and possibly sell before I'm able to make a decision, but it's only fair since Bill is a nice guy and took quite some time to talk to me and take me for a nice cruise. Due to insurance concerns, Bill didn't allow me to drive it, so I can't comment on steering, braking, etc. He was looking for more commitment before surrendering the keys to a stranger (can't really blame him, but it's hard to decide if you can't drive it!)

If you're looking for a Cobra in California, you really can't beat this deal - 427 side oiler and SB100 for $30K.

And finally, a sincere thanks to Bill for his kindness.

Thanks,

Howard

Thumbs up A Cobra is like an empty canvas to paint....

Nah,,, I like the bumpers, I'd leave 'em. Original style gear shift would be nice, but could be a big hassle to change. Go for a nice shift knob that suits your style. Slider control for the drivers seat, Finish Line should have that, cheap and a good up-grade!

Gauges,,,,, hmmmm, careful, you can drop some serious money there. Maybe there good enough after all.

Finish Line for some nice floor mats might handle the carpet issue?

I'd go for a different air cleaner, maybe a oval one? Engine needs "something" to dress it up a little more.
