You really should not be so selective in your list of possible trades. You might have better luck if you expand your list just a little bit

Chaplin, I guess I need to be a little more flexible. I'll also accept a "Starsky & Hutch" Gran Torino.

David,
I spoke to Southernfried earlier in the week and he told me he believes they are currently set up for a BB but Kirkham has mounts that would convert to a SB engine. He also said it comes with the upgraded Penske shocks, aluminum hood scoop, heavy duty half-shafts and jag rear already installed. Hope it helps and have a great weekend!

Wow! Your list is surprising...There are cars on there that seem less appealing than a KMP? Is this your car or are you out of $$$ to finish it?

Thanks, Tony. I believe the car is setup for a BB(the motor mount holes are 18" apart).
Jorgen, the car is mine, and the $$ aren't a problem(I'll trade up or down, got a Hemi Superbird? ). I've got two projects in my garage, and no time to address either one(wanna buy an 8 year project CJ8?). I figured the market is limited for KMP230, and accepting a trade will increase the pool of potential buyers. As far as the appeal goes, the cars on that list I've either wanted for a long time or have had them, or they have other sentimental value.
*pricing note: the car is priced about 10% less than KMP's 39.9k car when completed to "roller" status. I will meet East Coast Buyers 1/2 way for delivery at no additional cost.

Can you please explain "bare file finish"? This indicates to me that it is not smooth. Am I correct?

HIQ, you are correct. From what I gather, after all the aluminum panels are TIG'ed up and pounded out, the body is filed to get it to a "rough smooth" finish. From there it needs to be sanded and painted or sanded to the level prefered by the owner. Most "bare cars" are sanded to a satin finish. Some go all the way to a polished finish(see Pat Buckley's KMP, it looks like it was chromed).
If you go to pic #DVC000091 in my gallery(exterior shot of the fender vent), you can see the lines the file leaves in the aluminum. I test sanded a small area on a fender top with 220 grit and it went to satin nicely. If I were going to sand the entire car I would start at 120 , then 220 the entire car and go through the grits until I got to 600 range. I believe Pat Buckley went all the way to 1500 grit before he polished the car out.

I did remember the period at the end. Wanted to make sure that I did not keep things hanging.

KMP230X is off the market.
Well.........I went to my local auto-color shop today and bought some 220 and 320 grit paper(I've already got 120). I spent about 20 minutes getting the top half of the left front fender sanded smooth. Barring an offer of a Hemi Superbird in Tor Red as a trade, KMP230X is staying in Bogart.

Let me know as soon as you are finished with the sanding.Prefer the look after the 1200-1500.
Glad to hear you are keeping it for a while.

Shelby is local too. SFCJ, please please call me if you go that route. Just had an official Shelby restorer/judge at the house tonight.

WB, great memory, thanks for the lead.
Rob, I've got a #'s matching '68 RS/SS convertible in the garage, but shoot me some pics(sfcj8@bellsouth.net) and a description of your car(maybe if I have 2 Chevys I'll score some points with Turk).
TC, no way I'm calling you. Last time I called you, you kept me on the phone for three hours!
