Where can I buy a cobra replica kit??
Badly, I'm looking for a Shelby Cobra Replica Kit to buy and work on during this coming summer. Please contact me or let me know where I can get one? Thanks.

Erin,
Welcome to the club. I'm guessing you are new to the Cobra. I'd very strongly suggest you take your time and look around. Almost all (notice I said almost ) of us here have "replica" "reproduction" "fake" Cobras. There are literally over a dozen manufacturers out there. Many of them advertise on this forum.
What do you want in the car? Originality? Performace? Cruise? Race?
Biggest question...what is your budget?
Take your time, look around and you'll be glad you made the right choice.
Steve

Cobra ?
My67stang;
Many of us have been in your position. I suggest you consider it from this angle; There are kitcars where you work to fit and build everything, frame, body, acceessories, engine, wheels, transmission etc. There are factory build "rolling chassis" which is a complete Cobra ready to install engine and transmission.
I would suggest you will be much happier with the results from the latter, unless you are an expert with building cars.
I bought a Superformance and had an engine shop then fit a Ford Racing 392 engine with Tremec 5-speed bearbox. It is great.
Hope this helps.

Replica or Kit?
John,
While there are a lot of COBRA kit suppliers there area only a handful of COBRA Replica manufacturers.
From, separate rectangular tube "street rod" frames for $2k and buy as you go, to primed running rollers for under $20k.

erin,
You should plan to come out to Red Hook on Sat, 3/27 and learn something about the cars first, from real people, with real experience, face to face. Then you'll be informed enough to make a good choice.
Here's a link to the info thread. Annual Red Hook Brewery Meeting

Hi everyone, I'm new here, and im only 16 years old. However, i fell in love the first time i saw the Cobra, and i have wanted to build one ever since i saw it. Of course, i definitely dont have close to enough money to build one. I just replied to this because this thread is really helpful, and this spring my friend is going to bring me to different car shows so i can talk to some Cobra owners and ask them how they came about getting theirs. I'm glad i found somewhere where I could find out about the different makers of Cobras. I'm saving as much money as I can, and my dad used to build / restore old 70's cars. Oh, and if people dont mind, what kind of money did you spend on your cars? i see a lot of pictures here and theyre beautiful. Thanks again

Cobras
Hi SarN,
I also dreamed of the Cobra when I saw them race in 1965, a little older than you, but with the same dreams.
If you don't dream things will never happen.
Go to a Club Cobra meeting or breakfast and most owners will be pleased to explain things and let you see the car up close.
The Cobra is an icon and the most dreamed of car in American history.

Welcome Erin & SarN,
Just some advice, like klayfish said, take your time and ask as many questions as possible. I researched for two years before I spent a dime. Start a journal of your research and answer the questions that klayfish posted. Before you buy, go see the manufacturer and the way he builds the car. Make sure your going to get the customer service you'll need after the sale! Order the 3rd edition of "The Complete Guide to Cobra Replicas", it will have most of the manufacturers listed. You can find it at www.cobracountry.com . Last advice, be careful... in the world of cobras, there's always a snake in the grass! We're here to help you, good luck.
Chris,
slithering
