Like your friend's attitude towards threatening email messages.
Could I have his name? I've received one or two that I'd like him to look into for me.
Thanks

As all of you know I rarely get on this site but I ran into this thread just about 15 min ago. It's been entertaining and at the same time an eye opener.
Dan knows as many of you, that my family and I are outdoor buffs. When I go to e-bay I only use that site to get a "feel" for pricing. We have not nor I believe will we ever buy off E-Bay.
There are too many reputable, hands on sources for vitually any product one would care to purchase.
This was entertanment but boy I am glad none of you got burnt.
PS.... Am feeling quite well and am holding my own..

Bob,
Glad to hear that you are doing well.
Sizzler, check your regional FBI office and they'll provide you your districts agent. I originally contacted the ebay fraud section last year and reported a scammer. When they investigated the seller who became abusive about my inquiries, they turned the case over to their special internet fraud agent who monitors ebay. I contacted two regional offices, one in Muncie Indiana and the office in Cincinnati, Ohio since I live equidistant from both offices. If you need their numbers, drop me an email and I'll be happy to get them for you.
Here are a few of the numbers that I know:
Chicago : 312-353-6946
Cincinnati: 513-684-3334
Atlanta: 404-986-6040
Dallas: 214-767-2277
New York: 212-264-3993
Philadelphia: 215-597-2220
San Francisco: 415-974-9623
Ask the operator to transfer you to the internet fraud agent or to whatever office she thinks can help.

I also just got a response via e-mail from "Beezer". Same story as above.
I responed by telling him there is an entire web page now dedicated to HIM. LOTS of activity on it to.
He responded: GIVE ME THAT WEB ADDRESS.
I said: "Aint gonna happen! Is the FBI there yet?"

The new owner of CSX 4148 wasn't amused that his car was listed on ebay. It's amazing that this clown has the nards to dispute the people that know and own the car. My brother told me he encountered a similar situation with a seller claiming to be in the armed forces leaving for Germany and that his Camaro was stored in an "ebay garage in California". Shortly afterwards, he received a really funky comprised note with multiple spelling errors with an ebay header confirming the location of the car and that it was "safe to transfer the funds via Western Union" to the seller. He promptly turned it over to the same FBI internet fraud office but hasn't received a reply.

Brilliant Dan and Lurk.........!!!!! I think we all should do everything we can to cook these guys.
I also agree that E-Bay should be reprimanded. I've reported 4 Cobra frauds in the last month, yet they keep letting them in. They really ought to know enough to spot these now.
But the bottom line is WHY does E-Bay allow the "pre-authorized" bidder format? That's just a way for the scammer to start the e-mail dialog sooner than the auction supposedly closes, so he can get the money wired quickly before the scam is busted.

Bob
Hope to see you in April between the 5th and 7th. We will be in Las Vegas for my in-laws 50th anniversary and I plan on coming out to SAI while there.
Take care
Gary

Damn!
The old CSX4148 is getting famous.
I was getting ready to offer to trade him a 930 for the CSX4148. Dan, you went and messed it all up.
I hope EBay comes after YOU for costing them the commission on the sale.

If ANYONE questions the Gashole motto of "we don't like us either" printed on our shirts, now you understand why!
Turk, you still have the 930, I thought you would have traded it off quickly after you invested your 401BS in making it California legal. Who says you can lead them to water but you can't.... And this is from a car guy!
