Default Kirkham FIA Cobra for sale

2003 Kirkham FIA aluminum bodied Cobra for sale #030. The only reason this car is for sale is that i am 6'3" and simply can not fit into the driver compartment with any degree of comfort. Before i bought the car i new it would be a tight squeeze but i thought with adjustments i would fit. I have spoken to the best minds concerning this problem and short of modifyin the car i have come to the conclusion that i am just to tall to ride comfortably. It is truely a shame becouse this is the coolest car in the world. I have owned this car since january of 2003 and have put all of 50 miles on the car. If you are wondering this is the "Jenny" car. Since i recieved the car it has spent the bulk of its time with my mechanic sorting out electrical, mechanical and performance issuse. I have also spent this time replacing non period correct parts with those that would make the car look more authenic. I am sorry to say that I have tried 3 times to write this ad and attach pictures but each time my ad is rejected becouse my photos go over the 40,000 bytes. For anyone that is interested i have numerous pictures that i can send you along with a detailed history of its build up, drive train specs, and a list of all the performance parts. The Cobra is now fully sorted. It is fast, nimble and a blast to drive. Here is a brief overview of the cars components, a more detailed report can be e-mailed to you if you contact me at mattsa.gearhead@verizon.net.....Just a note, this car is complete and ready to go, it needs nothing...The Cobra FIA came from Kirkham with the polished aluminum body and ghost stripes, it also has the very desirable KMP aluminum Dana 44 rear end housing and 3:31 gears...The drive train is a period correct Hi-Po 289 making approcimently 350 hp...The transmission is a David Kee's Ford Top Loader 4 spd, ....the rear has 3:31 gears, excellent for all around driving, ......the interior is leather and has been carpeted...the shifter is period correct with a working reverse lockout.....there is a correct Harrison expansion tank which has been properly fitted.....racing mirrors have been added along with wind wings....in conclusion this Cobra is ready for track or driving on the street......$64,950.00...please contact eith any questions...thanks Matt

Cool

How about a multi car trade for this 289FIA:

1965 Mustang convertible (only needs paint to be a show car)

1986 V8 powered and raced prepped SVO (ex One Lap of America car)

http://www.bills2.us/svo.html
FFR Prototype Spyder convertible (sorry Dave)

Have you checked with David Kirkham about making it fit? I ordered the dropped pedal box and that provided plenty of room. I am 6'4" and the mods to the pedal box made so much room, that I did not need the modification which puts the seat back in its furthest position. It makes a huge difference. I think that this modification can be retrofitted to older cars. It could also probably be undone if you ever wanted to go back to stock.

I too am 6"4" and I fit very nicely! There should be absolutely not problem fitting in your car? Unless you ar looking for something with a bit more creature comforts and common?
They have a new foot box set up that drops the floor over 4 inches.
It would be a shame to give up such a great car for something that is easily adjustable....I own a number of cars and my Kirkham would be the last to go.....Good Luck

You can fit much larger pictures in your gallery than here.

Default Kirkham FIA..no more leaf spring Cobra's

I wanted to let everyone know that i am taking my Kirkham FIA off the market for the moment. It has been brought to my attention that Kirkham will no longer be offering there period correct FIA Cobra with front and rear transverse leaf spring suspension. I was told that most of these cars went to Shleby, an only a few were built for Kirkham customers.. In fact if you queary up The Imperial Palace Auto Collection in Las Vegas you will see a Shelby FIA for sale for $150,000.00...i do not know why but there it is. From what i understand the demand for Cobras with coil over suspension is greater and the cost of tooling for the FIA with transverse leaf springs was high. I do not believe you can now get a period correct transverse leaf spring FIA Cobra from Kirkham but i do not know that for sure. From what i understand only a handfull of Kirkham FIA's were made. I believe the company is now focusing on their FIA Hybrid. I do not know if this makes any difference or if the facts are all correct. But before i part with this one i thought i would check things out first. If anyone has more information i would appreciate knowing.

I looked at this car when in Las Vegas Last summer. It was at the Imperial Palace. Funny, not yet sold. Do you suppose they are asking a bit to much?

The 7000 series can still be had through Shelby for considerable less than the 4000's. They don't sell many because the demand is low. Everyone seems to want the 427/coil sprung car.

from my understanding there are no more aluminum 7000 series cars available, unless i suppose they are now being sourced from "ac"? actually the aluminum 7000 series cars were selling for more than the aluminum 4000 series cars. i'm sure it was just the opposite for the glass cars........... and i'll have to agree on the "35K csx number" post and definetly not worth it when compared to the kirkham product!

maybe you should write "sai" a check for the 35K and he'll probably give you a "csx" number?

So in other words, you bought this car as an "investment"?? I thought you bought it because "IT is the Coolest Car in the World!" Keep it, Modify it to fit your long legs while you wait for the value to increase. It is more fun than driving a 401K Plan!! Best of luck in whatever direction you go with this Beautiful Car. It is Very COOL!!

Make that 2 guys opinions, and one owns a Shelby, the other owns the replica. They were both made in the same factory, on the same tools, by the same guys. Not a difficult choice to make for me. There is no comparision.
