WANTED 67 or 68 Shelby GT 350 or 500 Convert.

I am looking to buy a 67 or 68 Shelby GT350 or 500 Convertible. I am looking for one that is in "Driver" Condition and not a show car. I have seen some before advertized here in the past and thought I would ask around here in the Cobra forum. I appreciate any leads that anyone can give me. I would concider a fastback as well but prefer a convertible.

Thanks for you help

Dan....then you're looking for a 68 as there were not any 67 convertibles.

Gary you are right there were no 67 Convertibles just 68. I would like to look at the 67 fastbacks.

Thanks
Dan

Actually, one 1967 Shelby prototype convertible. Now owned (and being restored/sold by) Volo Auto Museum........

Bill,

This is just a question but since you have so much documentation maybe you can answer it so I can show it to some people here who are questioning my sanity. My doctor, attorney, & etc. When I told them that several of the GT-500 Mustangs actually had 390s in them they officially declared me insane. I know the KR version used the 428 Cobra Jet but is there any documentation on just how many of the others had which engine?

Thanks,

Ron

Ron,

Neither Shelby (or SAAC), nor Ford kept such records, as all of the cars were supposedly sold with the 428CJ engines (GT500's obviously). Visually, you could not tell the difference, it is only when the internals were viewed (say after an original owner missed a shift and blew up the engine) that the truth came to light.....The 1997 World Registry I believe makes mention of this "mistake" in the production line, might want to look and makes copies out of one of them.

Bill,

Thanks. I have the 1997 registry and another book on Mustangs which also makes a passing mention of the 390 thing. I have driven just a few of them and one ran really well and the other two seemed to lack a lot, so I figured maybe the one actually had a 428.
By the way, does anyone know when the new Cobra registry is going to be released? I thought it was supposed to have been in March.

Ron
