Serious side of this post:

Evan,

There are many people who lurk on this forum who might be interested in your car. However, your advertisement has yet to contain any true content in which to entice them to prod you for further information, which most people who are accustomed to spending the big ticket numbers are not likely to do. Put some content in to your original for sale posting if your truly serious about selling off your car. The more information, the better chance you have of selling the car...............

Not so serious side of this posting:

Evan,

Lets face it, your obviously jealous of those people who actually take their cars out and use them for more than just a trailer/show queen. Your also quite tired of trying to keep people from getting too close to your car, waxing and polishing every two minutes can give you a tennis elbow or worse. It's time for you to step away from the ASB and step into something that you might actually use (was it you I saw drooling over the new PT Cruiser convertibles the other day in Summit) ......

Bill:

Serious side of my reply to your post:

I'm not that anxious to sell. But I have reached a point that I will sell for the right/fair price. If anyone is interested they can call me at the numbers posted above and I will fill their ears with all the details. The car, as you know is EXTREMELY detailed and very period accurate. Nothing on it or in it that wasn't on or in them back then. The car is as they were.

My avetar pretty much sums it up.

Not so serious side:

Yeah. I would love to get into track stuff. But not with 4206. Too much in it and its too valuable to wring it out on the track. Could I? Yeah. But why when a $40,000 FFR will be just as good for what I need. Problem is I just don't have the time or the mechanical know how.

Am I bored with shows? Yeah. Went to the M&M Mars Show on Memorial Day. Left after 1 hour. Bored stiff. Years ago I enjoyed it a great deal. Can't put my finger on why my attitude changed except I must have "outgrown" that scene. Haven't been to Somerville with the car yet. Tired of answering the same questions over and over and cleaning the ice cream and finger prints off later.

I love driving the Cobra. But its not practical. No luggage. No weather protection. No windows. No A/C. I don't mind but if I want to take the wife and/or kids its impossible especially for any length of time or in the heat or cold weather.

At GT3 (in Speed Yellow of course) will give me the same performance and excitment (probably better in ways) and has A/C, windows and I can drive it distances knowing its reliable and safe with the kids in it and in comfort.

Maybe I'm getting more practical in my "old age".

Keith: Yeah. I hear you. I'll continue to drive and enjoy it in the mean time. It is a rush to drive. Hey, next month I may decide I don't want to sell. But right now I'm willing.

Nah - you don't want a Porsche. They are just too easy.

Try the new Noble M14, he said, waving his flag.

It really (sorry) is something special.

Evan,

Perhaps a call to Keith at Powertech in Rockaway will find you not only a potential buyer(there was a customer of his looking for a car like yours), but a GT3 worthyof a few road courses as well.

Evan,

We never met, but I have to say that reading the threads involving you (and participating in some of the political crap in the lounge) have been the subject of my most interesting times so far at CC.

If you really have the urge to sell, the GT3 is a fantastic choice. The last porsche I drove was a 97 911 turbo and it's still the only thing that I've driven that remotely reminds me of the Cobra experience. The Ferraris were cool, but... just not raw enough. I'm not sure how exquisitely detailed the new Porsches are, probably much more so than the 97 - I haven't looked in a long time.

Enjoy your next ride. Really.

Evan,

Wilf's right. The Noble is special. They are selling as Noble GT's in the US. And, the left-hand drive cars are just starting to appear. Do a Google search, as I don't have the link handy. But, the distributor is in Ohio somewhere.

This car DESTROYED the GT3 and a Ferrari Strasdale in a comparison test. They are built as rolling chassis in Jim Price's factory in S. Africa, right next to the SPFs, and sent to this country for engine installation (Ford Duratech V-6, twin turbo....sorry it's a very small block).

Sound familiar? I believe about $75K gets a person in one, but I think there's already a waiting list. It is a genuine supercar at a bargain price.

Evan,

Sorry to hear about the sale of 4206. What you're experiencing now is what I experienced in 1998.

But....

...you can get into a decent beginners race car for around $10K.

....Even vintage Porsche racers are available at a reasonable price.

I'd be more than happy to help you look for one.

Straight up, no BS...you're more than welcome to come and join us at the track, we can arrange some seat time as a passenger so you can see first hand what is all about.

John: If I ever find the time I might take you up on the offer.

My problem is time. Work, Wife, 3 Kids, Travel hockey, house BS etc.. it never ends. Plus I'm not mechanically inclined. My favorite tool is a hammer.

If 4206 sells today, tomorrow or in 2 years it doesn't matter. I'm in no rush. I might just look at a spec racer. I'm sooo confused.

The Noble looks really cool. But whats the resale? Porsche and Ferrari are known quantities.

No history of the Noble in the U.S. They're just delivering their first U.S. cars. Only time will tell.

John: Thanks. How about a FFR Spec racer. You know I still have that Cobra blood coursing through my veins. I would love to do track work but times a B I T C H plus I can't do mechanical work for $hit. "Every man's got to know his limitations."
