Bill,
Thanks for the info.. I'll check with the Secretary of State about this.. Does having a Cobra registered as a '65 make it more valuable/desireable for some reason even though it is a "kit", or more correctly I guess "non-Vintage"? PLEASE excuse me if that sounded like a stupid question? I am still learning and I am trying to figure out why that would be true for myself... If you haven't noticed, you and I live in each others back yard. If you ever see any nice Cobras for sale in our area please send me a PM or email me at PatSmith@SmithWoodFloors.com....

Snake, I am hoping that your quick synopsis of the situation with this SPF is totally incorrect because I was actually thinking of driving to Chicago to look at this car... Showing a car for "color purposes" and not clearly defining that detail is pretty slipery salemanship indeed...

Bandit 1,
It may not be a big deal to you. My guess is it is to some.
Selling cars does require some credibilty. If you are selling your own car or a friend's car it is one thing.
When you are selling full time but want to pretend you are something other than what you are, then it is a matter of credibilty.

I sell cars for a living. When someone asks me what I do for a living, guess what? I tell them I sell cars.

If I told them I was a Copier repairman, and it turned out I was not, one has to wonder what else I did not tell you about myself or the car truthfully.

Pay particular attention to the common phone number!

Talking Elemetary, my dear TURK!

Turk,

Thanks for posting this.

There are just so many reasons why this car is listed wrong, and IMO misleading. Posting a Cobra for sale here?, you better come straight.

pjs50...i am near square lake and telegraphy roads, yes, your back door. there must be 20 cobras within 5 miles of my house.

having a car registered as a 65 makes it more saleable in MOST areas that have emission laws, ie, prox 1/2 of the illinois counties and chi and chi metro come to mind as examples. also insurance is generally cheaper as a 65 vs a 2002 or whatever late model. plates can be cheaper too. to me it is no big deal, my car was built in 96 and registered new in 98 thus it is a 98 assembled vehicle in mich with their own affixed and unique vin assigned to it, not the spf vin.

you should join the great lakes cobra club and get involved. talk to owners and view cars of all brands as well as their licensing experience. also, they will have a display at the woodward dream cruise at prox 11-1/2 mi and woodward at the offsite ford used car lot.

seems like we might be stealing/hijacking this thread from what it was originally intended to be . sorry folks. as such, contact me offline if you have any questions so this thread can return to its regular programmed channel, so to speak : billwells@comcast.net

Turk:

My comments were what 4 pages ago? If the guy was only selling 1 or 2 Cobra's and even if he is a dealer that is not a big deal to me. There are always people looking to purchase a Cobra on this forum and I don't believe 1 or 2 cars are that big of a deal. If the forum owner has determined that he doesn't want even 1 or 2 free ad's from a dealer than that is his choice.

Problems:

Obviously, this guy is a car salesman, not just selling the car for a friend. Maybe he will stop after this one because we've all said our thing, but...his original intent was to sell additional cars, am I right?

We do not know what configuration this car is, what chassis number it is (yes, he says 1301 but I'm starting to have my doubts).

Parin seems to be trying to pull wool over our eyes. Keeps asking about Chicago area events, etc... how hard is it, if you are really here because "you guys seem to know how to have a good time", to look around? Not hard. Go do a search on "Chicago"... or find the WCCC.

This whole thing just smells bad to me.

I feel like I'm going to find he is from Chicago, Nigeria and he wants me to Western Union a $10,000 deposit on the car.

One thing didn't seem right, fine. Look back on one of my first posts here in this thread. But now, this train has derailed considerably.

Caveat Emptor..........

I don't like it.

I am not the forum detective, nor do I have anything against someone offering a car or two membership in general. God knows I have nothing against car salesman.

I am a little ticked, and as a long time member of this forum I have an obligation to those to whom it matters that someone selling a car ANY car is not telling the full truth about the car or themselves.

Bandit 1, if you are not as concerned about that as others might be, that's OK also. I just didn't like the tone in your post 4 pages or 3 pages earlier that you sounded as if those of us raising a caution flag were doing something wrong.

Buyer beware.

Turk:

4 or 5 pages ago it was a discussion about a "honest" dealer coming in and selling 1 or 2 cars. My comments were aimed at as long as it wasn't against the rules and the person wasn't doing it on a regualr basis, I thought it was okey. Since then the situation has changed and several details have come to light. You made a comment about what I said 4 or 5 pages earlier. Since then I didn't make any more comments because the "facts" had changed.

you cant blame a dealer for trying to sell a car. cash is a good thing. alot of bad checks get floated around. their are alot of cobras for sale and not alot of takers. then you try the ebay snake pit. bid against someones friends relatives-- dogs and 10 other screen names. beee---- ware.

No! You can't! You're absolutely right!

So, is that what is happening here? A dealer is trying to sell a car?

I think a very questionable dealer is trying to sell a car in a place where dealers pay a fee to advertise and where private owners are more than welcome to sell their cars.

At this point, I'm less upset the guy is here selling the car than I am about the possibility the deal isn't legit! Either way it stinks, but if you are one that trusts this guy, then go for it! Sure hate to see us let our guard down and the scammers come RIGHT HERE to CC.

PS - Where is Mr. Shah? Did we scare him off? If so, why? Did he have something to hide? If not, come back, set the record straight, tell us we're wrong about you, and we wish you the best...

Mr. Shah??

Default Name Change!

With all that's come to light lately, I suspect no one would be a bit surprised to learn that on or about 7/19, our boy Parin changed his Ebay user ID from number_one_ seller2004 to chicagomotorworks??

Regards,
Doug

I'm not very PC so - Parin seemed to speak (type) in the same broken english frequently used in the email scams. Plus he SHOUTED - then ran away.

After having read this thread from front to back, I am more conviced than ever that the paltry sum paid to Brent to keep this site up, pays huge dividends!!

P.S. Turk, I'm starting to kinda like you. Hope that don't cause your gashole rep to suffer?

Randy,
I did read it. I still have it on my computer at home. If I had known it was from you, I would have sent it to the trash.

Toby,
Thanks. That makes 3 of us!!

And the third one has feathers, sits on a perch and calls Turk "Dad."
