I agree that the only real cobras are around 40 years old, but I don't agree that the EPA standards determine what cars are real or not! You a democrat?

p.s. Sorry Evan for making comments, but after 5 pages of them, what's one more going to hurt?

Shelby atuhorized, oversaw, put together the team that...
builds the continuation Cobra. It IS indeed an AUTHENTIC Shelby Cobra. Unless C.S. has changed his name to something else???
Some people will never get it no matter how you try to explain it. If Shelby did not "build it", it IS a replica of the car Shelby builds.

Seems to me to be a lot of delusional hair splitting and semantics to convince oneself (and others) that is it something it is not.
Personally, I would still say it was a replica when asked, but then again I'm not legally trained so I can't possibly elucidate the "nuances" while maintaining a straight face.

Hey Jim if you ever build a car I forbid you to call it a "Jim Car". you may call it an Ernie Car, or a Bob Car, or even a Shelby Car. But it will be none of the above, it will be in fact a "Jim Car".
Oh wait, I guess the law says we can't name a car after ourselves? So Shelby has no right to call HIS cars "Shelbys". Is that right, or did I miss something?

FROM SAAC -
---
As far as CSX4000 and CSX7000 cars are concerned, SAAC accepts these cars as genuine Shelby American Cobras (as opposed to "original" Shelby American Cobras). The definition we use to identify an original Cobra is one which was, 1) built between 1961 and 1968, 2) at the direction of and under contract from Carroll Shelby/Shelby American Inc., and 3) sold by Shelby American or one of its franchised dealers. The only difference between original Cobras and CSX4000 and CSX7000 cars is the time frame in which they were built (1). However, all three factors separate Shelby’s current cars from all the rest of the Cobra replicas, AC MK IVs, COB/COX continuation cars, etc. So, to our way of thinking, the current crop of Cobras are genuine but are not original.
---
So is REAL genuine or original? People asking the question "Is it real?" are asking if it is an original accoring to SAAC definition. If you want to rely on semantics to distort the truth when answering - go right ahead. I'm sure they'll appreciate it.

If I owned a modern Shelby continuation Cobra I would NOT call it a replica, because in my opinion it is NOT one.
In the same breath I would make it clear it is a modern Cobra built/authorized/supervised by the man himself. In that regard, it's the real deal!
I am continually surprised by the number of people who comment at car shows, "You know Shelby is making those again." They don't seem to have the problem many of US do! It is quite easy for them to understand "old" and "new".
Shame on Roush for naming his stuff after himself, it's unAmerican I tell you. Something only the Italians can do, like Enzo Ferrari for instance. I suppose his "continuation" Ferraris are actually "replicas" since his passing?
Gary if I felt that way about a Shelby I owned, I would certainly sell it post haste! Buy yourself an ERA and pocket the the extra money, because I think you've missed the point!
...becoming more clear perhaps why Evan is selling. Who needs this crap after you've bought a NICE car from the REAL man.
Saleen, shame on him too for calling HIS cars something different than what they really are, a MUSTANG!

All I'm saying is that's what it means to me. I sold an ERA to get this one. Not because I thought the Shelby was any better or worse than the ERA , it's just that what I wanted to change on my ERA was going to cost too much. The Shelby had all the changes already and was offered to me with a wait time of only a month or so vs. ERA's wait time of almost a year or more. Trust me when I say that Shelby has a ways to go to even be in the same ballpark as an ERA or a Superformance when it comes to fit and finish. I have one of the first CSX cars that was supposed to come from SA but instead were built in Las Vegas. I have some issues which have not been resolved and I'm waiting to see if they are before I make my final say on how I have been treated. All I'm saying is that "TO ME" it's still a replica. Yes it's an "authentic" Shelby but make no mistake I want anyone that asks me "is it real" I want to make sure they know what it is and was not built in the 60's. But that's just me. It has everything that my ERA did not have...the bolt on scoop, rectangular tailites, a little larger flare on the fenders and that's about it. The bonus is that it carries a CSX serial number. Let me ask you this hypothetically....would you settle for a lot less quality of a car just to get the CSX number? I'm saving my comments until I finish my build and dealings with Shelby Automobiles. As Gary Patterson would tell me...smile damn it. I am now...but will I be before it's over? Time will tell.
Gary

Fellas...
..this is not the place to have another-"Gee, is it REAL" discussion.
The Cobras For Sale Forum is for posting offerings and answering questions about the car....that's it.
Please continue, if you must, on another thread.

Is this car still available? If so, how much? Do you have a detailed list of specs?
