You mean like this Steve:

"The first thing you have to do is come up with a set of "comps" on your car. This is much harder then it sounds (do not let yourself think that just because you saw one car sell for $40,000, and your car needs "just a little work" to make it look like that one, that you can get $35,000 for it), as each and every car is different from yours in one way shape or form. Next, you need to sit down and write up a very detailed description of the car, list the good and the bad, disclose everything about the car up front and you'll have less questions that need to be asked. List the interior condition, exterior condition, drivetrain, suspension, paint, rust, it's history if you know it, factory options, awards won, etc and so forth. After all of that is done, print it out and read it for continuity, if it reads choppy to you, and does not flow, then you need to rewrite it until it flows better. Next, find a well lit area and take lots of pictures as you can never have too many detail shots, (make sure to force the flash on every shot if need be) Every panel should have at least one shot to cover it, take shots of the interior, dash, seats, etc. Engine compartment shots from the front, then the side, trunk shots to show the detailing (or lack of detailing). List the full VIN, and how the car is titled. When you think you have everything listed, put yourself in the buyers position and ask any and all of the questions as if you were going to be buying the car. Again, write down the answers and incorporate anything you might have missed in to your original advertisement. When you have all of this information then, and only then should you post your "for sale" notice."

Bill S.

Bill S.: I am looking for a reasonable offer. Won't be more specific. The car will be sold for a reasonable price. If you are truly serious you can contact me offline and make an offer or as the case may be have the person you know do so . If its a reasonable offer, the Cobra's yours or his.

You may buy the custom trailer too. $5000.00. 8'x20'.

Dan: Thanks. There are certain guys in the "Cobra world" I'll miss. You're one of them. Helpful and knowledgable.

Steve: Thanks. Will be in touch.

Evan,

Just my 2 cents....

If you don't list the details of the car or the price, you're not going to get much of a response except for the typical wiseass responses.

Evan,

Feel free to email me the requested information. If my buyer can swing it, he'll want your car.........

Bill S: I will email you specs on the car next week with pictures. You've seen the car. You know what it is. Give me a call. 908 725 8710. If your freind is in Jersey he is welcome to stop by and see it and inspect it. The car's not that far away if he is serious. I'll be around. If he is a serious buyer we'll even go for a demo ride. I'll hand him a spec sheet and copy of Dyno sheet.

I'll be happy to send spec info and email pics to all serious inquires. They can review it and then contact me if they want to make and offer.

I'm not setting a price. I know what I want and will entertain reasonable offers. You know and I know if I state a "price" every "expert" here will have an opinion on it. Not interested in getting caught up in that nonsense. Opinions are like a$$holes, eveyone has one. When I get an offer I'll respond to the person making the offer and if its close we'll talk turkey. Real players will make and offer and know the value of the car. Wannabes and dreamers will only waste time and know it alls will play with themselves critiquing any asking price.

Not pushing hard to sell. Even with no real effort already have one potentially serious buyer (believe it or not) and one other call of interest. No offers yet.

Car will be on ebay soon.

Serious buyers will do their reseach. If their sense of value matches mine they will get the car. Its just that simple.

Evan,

Client is in Spain (and legit), kind of tough for a test drive. I've already given him the rundown on your car from my personal experience and knowledge. I've already shipped three other "big ticket" automobiles to him over the past five years When you email me, just give me your rock bottom line (this guy does not like to negotiate or play games on price). If he likes what he hears..........

Evan,

"friend..."

Mr. Mustang clearly stated it's a "Client" - read the lines & between them. Best of luck - I hope you get a real offer.

Bill is free to negotiate "his" "broker" deal with me directly. He knows where to find me.

Evan,

In this case, your truly missing the point, as I am acting as a "buyers broker", I do not expect, nor will I accept a fee from you in regards to this particular buyer or transaction. You must know the difference under those terms. As for my sending you my clients information and contact information, think about how ridiculous that truly sounds, especially coming from the keyboard of an attorney. Yours is not the only car I have inquired about, but it is the only CSX4000 series............In closing (as this will be my last communication in regards to your car, I cannot chase after you to provide me with information any longer, as your doing nothing but wasting my time), I suggest you send what was requested. After discussion with my client, I'll let you know whether it will work, or not, then go from there.Guess you really need to learn about selling. Being behind the table during negotiations is one thing...But your attitude so far, and your lack of cooperation to this point is astounding from someone interested in selling a large ticket, limited purchaser item such as your car.

End Transmission:

Bill S.

Requesting the "information" I asked for wasn't at all "ridiculous" my friend. You did not make clear whether you were acting as buyer or sellers broker or perhaps both.

I'll email you the information as to specs and photos this week. As a "broker" and an "expert" on these cars you know the value of these cars and I'm sure can guide your client. If a reasonable offer is made we can talk turkey and you can earn your fee from your "client".

I won't "waste" your time. Don't waste mine.

Again, I'm not anxious to sell. Believe me. But I will sell for a fair number.

BTW, the car will be on ebay soon so your client can bid if he wants.

P.S. I won't pay for shipping or share the cost. I'm not anxious to sell at all. If you friend wants it he pays for all shipping. If he doesn't want it thats fine too.

Default Jeesh

A lot of bickering over nonsense.
Bill, describe the car to your buyer. See what range "if you could would he" spend and go back to Evan with an offer. No biggie.
I get buyers to pay me then I pay the seller. It has never been any different.
BTW, I am placing the car on Ebay Tuesday under my user ID
Compcar98 so all can see and bid

Sorry Evan,

Pending inspection this Thursday, my client is opting for the CSX3000 series car in Arizona(that seller only took three days to get me the information, mull over the offer presented, and make up her mind). If the inspection does not go well, I'll let you know, otherwise, good luck with your sale.

Yeah right. No problem Bill.

Then I won't waste my time sending you the info in that case. If your buyer changes his mind and decides he's interested in my CSX let me know and I'll email the info.

Let us all know what CSX # he's buying. Good luck with the deal. I'm glad your client found what he's looking for.

Not to add more to the drama in here but, Evan you never said you were NOT interested in the 930 and I see that you are offereing the trailer for sale.
I am so confused.

Good luck with the sale.

I don't think cars like yours need a middle man to sell.
Dupont Registry, Autoweek, Hemmings, Robb Report and most importantly Cobra Country ought to do it.

I've left this alone because I want it to be a good example to all of how two educated, experienced folks can make themselves look pretty damned dumb by trying to "talk" to each other via a web site instead of picking up a damn phone (not even long distance!), using the fax or even e-mailing.

No need to thank me...simply trying to provide a continuing educational experience for all to enjoy.

Evan,

If both buyer and seller permit it, I shall be most happy to post the details.

Jamo,

That's not a nice thing to say about yourself and Turk

At least there's a slight lull in ads appearing in people's signatures...
