Smile Looking for finished or unfinished Cobra

I am new to the Cobra scene but have always wanted one of these beautiful beasts. I am looking for one to buy. It can be under construction or completed. I have also been looking for kits. Any suggestions on who has the best kits out there?

Thanks
Billy

John - Very weird - I spoke with Mr. York today about building my engine and AC about their kit. The car is beautiful. May I ask why you are selling it and are you happy with the quality of AC's kit? I was looking for one in the $17,500 - $20,000 range that I could do some work on - it doesn't look like I would have much to do on yours

Thanks in advance

Good Morning Billy,

I love my car that's why I named him Cobie. I had a great time building him and have mixed emotions of selling. I can always build another one though. I am trying to sell him to help offset adoption expenses incurred earlier this year of our two kids. It's been a blast and there are still things that could be done to improve him but it is not a project car. It will not nickel and dime you to death either as everything was new 1600 miles ago. This was not a donor car project. The only thing from another car was the steering column and I inspected it for wear internally and found nothing to be concerned with.

As far as the kit itself, I would consider building another A&C and think that it is just as good of a kit as the others out there in the price range. The fibreglas work is second to none in my opinion. Also, Joe Trombley was very cooperative with me when I had some suspension issues. He helped well more than he needed to considering I purchased the "pile-o-parts" second hand and not from him.

If you have any other questions or comments, please let me know.

Thank you.
John

Thanks for all you emails and replies. I understand I will not be able to buy a completed car for what I want to initially spend. I wanted to have a 6mo - 1 yr project........... a labor of love so to speak. However, if I can not find an incomplete kit or a kit I want to start from the beginning, I would be very interested in any of the cars above. I just need to make up my mind.

Thanks again
Billy

Billy,
The available COBRAs out there start in kit form (hot rod style square/rectangular tube designs at about $6k to over $45k.
The available COBRAs out there in REPLICA (AC/COBRA copies in glass) start at $7k and go to $65k or so.
How you build and trim will determine the VALUE of your car, not the package price you spend.
Currently the market is soft, so you might buy a finished COBRA for the parts cost alone comparatively and save you all the build time/issues. You could then at least "upgrade" to the finish level you want.

Good Point Grumpy,
All I'm wanting to do is recover most of the cash outlay in mine not accounting for any of the "little" extras or my time. Mine is an example of what you speak. I am planning on the "upgrades" stage starting this winter if Cobie doesn't get adopted.

John.

Billy,
Its a unique that was built in 1989.
It has a 351 Cleveland, toploader 4 speed,IRS rear suspension, MGA front end, etc.
Its a good middle of the road car. The Cleveland has a lot of potential to make some serious HP! I just have to many irons in the fire and havent given the car the time it deserves. Its all sorted out and ready for driving.
I would like to get 31k for it. Or a fastback 67 mustang trade with cash. I left out the fact that I cant get my family of 4 in it. But a mustang would work!!
If you are interested give me a call.
Make sure you look at alot of them before you buy. Take the time to educate yourself on what is out there. There are alot of variations on these cars. This forum has alot of good people who are alot more educated on these beast's than I am. They are a world of information.
Good luck!
Dave

Thanks Grumpy........... I am finding what you say to be very true. I truly want to own a COBRA. I really need to decide if I want to start with a completed car and make it outrageous or build my own for the pure satisfaction of it. Thank you all for your help and advice

Billy
