Nuke - I went the other way. While in Sindelfingen I took a tour of the Benz factory, went crazy when I saw the SLK and ordered one when I got back to the US. This was in 1999. I had to wait for 8 months because I wanted a stick in it but the Germans don't believe Americans can drive them! I just sold that SLK to buy my Cobra! Here's the real rub....you are going to take a bath.
I lost over half the car's value in less than 4 years and only put 30K miles on it. Also, it was cool at first but got real BORING towards the end. Good luck anyway. There really is no substitute for cubic inches!

Thanks for the heads up, but I believe the new redesigned SLK is head and shoulders above the old one. I've owned and driven many sports cars and to date the Cobra was the most fun, but mainly b/c it's so loud and racey. It could never compare with the twin turbo RX-7 I owned in the handling category and the BDR's are one of the best handling Cobras made. I miss that part of the driving. When I drove that SLK a week ago you couldn't get the smile off my face. On another note, do you think I care about resale? Did you see what my car went for and how much I have into that thing? One last thing, no one in my family cares about the Cobra, nobody ever rides with me. It was actually alienating me from my family. I will be happy even if I sell my new SLK to you in one year for $10K.

Allen, your wife rocks! Thanks. Last night on my way home from the plant I saw on my phone you'd tried to call. I'm going to Legend Mercedes in the morning but I'll be off the rest of the day. I'll get in touch with you tomorrow.
Hope you understand my decision on what car to buy. More goes into it than just what I'd like to drive and own. Anyway, we can have a variety now.

Hey Gomer, if you were driving an SLK the other day on Hwy C, the Sheriff would've never pulled you over and given you that ticket b/c your car would have been equipped with an integrated radar detection system. You could've kept driving while listening to your favorite CD and it would've saved you $108.

Hey B,
Who got a ticket? Did you get the car yet? I want to see it and take it around the block for a spill But someone once told me the two things you don't loan out is your car and your wife(someone will throw a rod in both of them) Allen

Allen, Rogers and I both got pulled over recently (within the last month) and he got a ticket, I didn't.
Don't worry, once I get the car you and Rogers will be first on the list to go road test it. After my wife of course! I've given a deposit, now they're trying to find one in production that is not spoken for with the options I want. If they don't, I may be looking at March before I can get one. I hope they find one!
