Question Newbie looking for advice

Hi all,

I'm from europe and totallt in love with the design and power of the cobra. I want to own one but also would like to restore one. Does anyone know if it is hard to find a wreck to fix? Or is it easier to buy a replica kit and build it as new? What I would like the most is to buy a wreck (for a reasonable price) and rebuild it.

Thanks in advance!
(and greetings from Holland )

Tim,
Welcome to the forum.

There were only approximately 1000 "original" Cobras built in the 1960's. Only hundreds survive today. You could check the Shelby registry, but I doubt there are any wrecks out there that haven't been restored or anything like that. Even if you find an original, regardless of it's shape, you'll need a REALLY large wallet.

There are numerous replicas out there that can be had. The market is a buyers market right now, so you can get quite a car for a good price.

Thanks for the info Steve!

I 'll be looking for a replica then . As I read before, a replica is the highest form of worship for a car.

michael, How is the restoring going? It seems the car youre working on is in quite a good condition? what year was it build?
Are you keeping this color and striping? It looks really cool in green. are you rebuilding the engine as well? Maybe you can send me some more pics?

thnx, Tim
