Guys, a change of plans, I'm selling my blue Contemporary Cobra. Titled as ¡¦67 Ford Conv (so no smog or emissions inspection needed). For quick sale, asking $35,000 or offers. Located in Westchester county, NY. Please click on gallery for all 14 pictures.
Very clean with just 7,000 miles since completion in ¡¥91 (I am the second owner). Driven throughout the summer and everything works, she handles, corners, and pulls like a freight train. The engine bay and interior have no grime and are spotless (never driven in the rain).
Engine is a 351ci Ford Windsor V8 built by racer Engine Research of Georgia (receipt for $10,000) producing in area of 450 horsepower, mated to a Tremec T-5 competition transmission (5 speed manual). Full engine build sheet and parts list available. The power plant sounds perfectly grisly, runs on premium unleaded gas, and despite the power it never overheats given the engine fan, and starts, pulls instantly without any lumpiness.
Engine specs :
700cfm 4bbl Holley carburetor.
TRW forged high performance pistons.
J302 Aluminum SVO cylinder heads.
High performance rods.
Hydraulic lifters.
Ford Motorsports electronic ignition.
Holley fuel pump.
High torque starter.
High volume
oil pump.
Summit Racing pre-lube oiling system.
Wheels are rare cast aluminum 16" pin-drive Halibrands with spinners (safety wired). Dunlop performance tires all round, front 235/50/ZR16 and rear 255/50/ZR16.
The 427 S/C body sits on Contemporary's 4¡¨ round tube ladder chassis, and is painted Ford Ultra Blue. Other than a few driving stonechips the paint is in beautiful condition and a great shade of racing blue. Body is fitted with all Shelby 427 Cobra badges. I have for fitting a brand new pair of Aluminum rear spats (fender guards). They were hand-made by a fellow Cobra craftsman from Aluminum sheet, and are simply stunning.
The interior is finished with grey leather seats (which don¡¦t scorch your butt as black does when left in the hot summer sun), and door panels with convenient map pockets. 3¡¨ competition style G-Force 4-point camlock racing harness hold the driver and passenger securely in place, and anchored to the rear chassis. 140MPH speedometer and tachometer/revcounter gauges are period correct Smiths, and the
oil pressure gauge,
oil temp, fuel guage, water temp and ammeter are Tudors. Wilton wool carpeting with Cobra floor mats complete the interior. I'm 6 foot tall and sit comfortably.

Hardwood steering wheel, with Cobra cap.
Original style chrome toploader shift lever, topped with machined Aluminum ball shift knob.

Contemporary Cobras are up there with the best built. This street style Cobra is fast, reliable and ready for fun and action. I've seen unfinished rollers (no paint, interior, engine or transmission) for $25k, and many Contemporary¡¦s sell for $40-60,000. This car is in perfect running order and ready for use. For a quick sale, asking $35,000.
