I want a Cobra
I want to buy a Cobra. I have $25.000 to spend so I know I won't get a high end car but I would like one that runs strong and drives well. I don't have the time or the skill to build one.
Any help would be appreciated.

Bluevette,
Check out www.cobracountry.com or www.ffcobra.com You'll find cars in your budget there. Just be sure to have them thoroughly inspected.

Find the largest Cobra car show (or other gathering) in your area. Go to it and take a good look at the different manufacturer's cars. Some look like the originals, some have been retro-redesigned. Some have good fit (the curve of the door is the same as the body) some don't match. You may even find a few with "for sale" signs. It really doesn't matter how much you pay, if its a car you like; it really does matter if its a car you don't like no matter how little it costs.

Bluevette, my FFR is 2 1/2 yrs. old, has 27,800 miles on it. EFI, 1993 Mustang 302, AOD trans. and 327 rear. The color is Mercedes-Benz Brillent Silver, no stripes. I will sell it for $25,000 and deliver or you can fly here on Southwest for less than $100. If you are interested I will send you all of the particulars and photos. John

Hey John it's great to see a replica Cobra with a few miles on it! I KNOW the bugs are worked out of that one. I'm just not impressed with ultra low miles anymore, to many potential bugs.

So, I found another like myself to jump ship (Prior Vette Owner), should you find a Superformance with a 351w putting out 385+ HP for 35-40K please let me know. (Anyone else out there with knowledge of a PRIVATE PARTY I'm ready to buy, if the right car).

Honestly you are pushing the limits of what I would describe as build quality vs. budget. Rates are still pretty good, you could finance a car for a bit more money and have a huge leap in quality. Just something to consider.

I have one 600hp or so, built in the 70's. Been shaken down at the track and on the street since then. Asking 20K would get you into a very well built cobra that you could do the show cosmetics to if you wanted to later on which would help you save money. Just a few slots down. PM if your interested.

BlueVette, my fellow Okie, I'll be watching this thread closely.
BH is afraid of driving Gunrack, but loves that she is a Cobra.
An older, fairly stock EFI 302 AOD would be perfect for her to putt around in with her friends and take to shows.
I have looked into an '05 Mustang V6 ragtop, try $25K, right in your price range.
Financing could be a problem with a Cobra, open arms and a massage with the Mustang.
Keep posting, please.

Got the fever, eh?
Step ONE. Put your checkbook away.
These cars don't depreciate every year like new Vettes, so take your time. Your first task is to become an educated consumer. That you checked in here first BEFORE you signed the check is a smart move on your part. There is a lot to learn before making a purchasing decision on a Cobra.
Read, read, and read some more. Learn what the right questons are, and what the right answers should be.
Go to events, look, ask lots of questions, ride in some cars, and drive a few if you can.
After you know what you REALLY want, dig out the checkbook.
