Portable Jack OR??
What's the general opinion of carrying a small scissor or similar jack in the car while out for day trip? How many of you do carry one, or do you have alternate emergency plans.
Inquiring minds want to know

Rick,
I've been carrying a Ford Escort sissors jack with a homemade adapter to fits my frame rails along with a compact spare and lug nuts that fit my wheel studs and the compact tire/wheel. Even changed a front and rear tire at home to make sure it all worked. So far no flats! getting stuck anywhere ain't no fun!!

JACK FOR EMERGENCY
Rick,
I carry a small jack from a Honda Accord. Works nice for my car.
I also carry a spare tire.

Small scissors jack and a space saver spare from a Dodge Stealth since it is the correct height and bolt pattern.

But, what kind of spare do you use with pin drive wheels.
I already waited 2 hours for a tow truck, and was told " this will only damage the the oil cooler a little" and my reply was this will only "damage your fun-en head a lot if you do that " .
So I'm looking for a spare too, ideas?

ERA649:
I think more than 1 indivual on this site uses a very narrow pin drive wheel as a spare? Made by PSE as I recall.

I carry a small scissors jack with an adapter that fits my frame.
I had Phil at PSE make up a custom narrow (5" wide) knock-off wheel for me. I started with a small tire (195/60X15"), but it took up most of my trunk.
I ended up putting a "collapsible" spare tire on the knock-off rim.
As you can see, I got a LOT of room back with the mini spare.
Hopefully, I will never have to use the inflator, as the prices for full ones at swap meets have gone crazy.
regards,
Jeff
