Wanted: 1966-1967 Mustang
I am looking for a clean V-8 mustang. Prefer an average S code '67 or an A code '66, but would consider a reasonably priced GT.

Michael,
Have you checked :
http://forums.vintage-mustang.com/forums/ubbthreads.php
http://links.vintage-mustang.com/
Prices for these cars are going through the roof lately, so expect to pay at least $9,000+ for a basic "A" code coupe in need of work, or $10,000+ for a 67 "S" Code coupe...
Bill S.
PS: You mention the 67, buy why not the 68 Mustangs???????Since visually, they are 95% the same body style

"S" Code
SCOBRAC,
Have two "S" Code 67 Mustangs, one in perfect 63000 mile condition all 99% original parts, the other beyond limits, but a good condition with fresh (in 81) rebuilt engine, 85% of parts are original.
Both stored since mid 80's, and have stickers to prove it. Just don't have the time to do anything with them.
Go pvt Mail.

You would not believe what I've been offered for my 66 Mustang Fastback. I stripped it down to the frame and rebuilt it over a 2 year period. Never would I have thought I could break even! Seems like you do not have to be "correct" to get collectors prices - just well restored and powerful.

I'm open to a 1968. It's a little hard to rationalize, most guys are either '66 or '67 but not either or. I guess it comes down to my being born in '66 and loving that shape, particularly the fastback. My first car was a 1967 Fastback. I am looking for an S-code to retain the FE and use some of the go-fast parts I've collected rebuilding the Contemporary. Tough to do with a '66 without cutting, which I want to avoid.
Mostly what I see in mustang forums are beaters guys want $5-7K for. I don't mind doing the work but I see a lot of cars that should be in the $2500 range there. I don't mind spending the money, I just don't want to be stupid about it.

SCOBRAC,
The two CODE "S" fastback toploaders, were sold within hours of my above note, one to a friend who did not know who grump was, so I might be involved in it's restoration, hopefully not with his suggested white LeMans stripes in his last eMail.
Glad neither will be "rodding" or drag canidates, they were just too choice for full resto.

SCOBRAC,
I have an original "A" code GT car for sale that was born and raised in San Jose, CA in 1966. I bought from the original owners in 98 and it is fully restored. Apart from the one non-original fender, all other sheet metal came with the car, including the floors. If you know Mustangs, you know how rare this is. My goal with the car was original appearing, but stronger where technology has allowed. 15x7 styled steel wheels with full size spare, 289 30 over with full Edelbrock package, full 4 wheel discs, 3.55 with Auburn, etc, etc. It's an awesome car. Red, black interior.

I have been trying to send you a picture of a black 67 FB w/ 427 S.O. 4sp w/ factory air (one of two ever built with those options) certified and all documents to prove. I will post pictures tonight at home. Engine and drivetrain has just came back from builders. This is not a concourse restoration but it is a beautiful car.

Ok,
Two days ago Grumpy had 2 S code cars for sale... They both sold the day he posted his note to me. How many Gassholes are there again? Too bad too... I would have gone $25k for the correct example.
If you have a car for sale PM me or e-mail me. Or better yet call me at the number I have listed. thestrunks@prodigy.net Don't post it here.
Nice car BW... I'm sure it's worth more than you are asking. I'm unfortunately probably going to miss out on it. I'm leaving for a week on the 28th. I'll contact you when I get back if it's still avaliable I'll come see it. (I'm in Calif)
Lowell Ar, is in the Ozarks near Springdale isn't it? I have people in Harrison. Maybe I'll get Randy Ritchy to come look at it. I'll contact you when I get back (march 9th-10th)
Thanks,

Michael,
I can tell you that I did not buy them out from under you, and in fact told Grump that after you had your choice of the two, I would gladly buy the one left over.
Clois,
I have access to the Ford production database (compliments of Kevin Marti and his contract with Ford for the 67-73 model years), and can say without reservation that there were no, I repeat NO "Factory" produced 427 cars built that year..........NOT ONE!!!!!!!!! PM me with the full VIN and the drivers side door data plate information and we'll take things from there.
Sincerely,
Bill S.

It's fine. I'll end up with most of the Cobras here on CC when these old guys start dropping off. What's the line on late night TV... Pennies on the dollar???
I'm with you Bill on the 427 I know if two which came from dealerships delivered with 427's but I can't find any documentation to suggest they left the plant with 427's. I saw one on e-bay suggesting it came with a 428. I'm sure that was possible, but who knows.

Mustangs are a great hobby collectible imho- the one thing you don't need to do is worry about the one that got away - there will be a new deal come along tomorrow - check Mustang & Ford Trader, hemmings, and of course eBay. I must have passed on about 10 cars and then, sitting for about 4 days, was a very nice one owner CA car - the guy is 85 years old - bought it new, but now needs to move on....

Bill,
Sorry to be spewing bad info but I saw the door code on the car and I could have sworn that it was an R code and a 427 but I will get you the sn this weekend if I can. Freddie has several 427 and Boss 9 cars and this was one he lobbied for a long time. I am sure you are right but I would like to know what it is he thinks he really owns.

Michael,
I've owned two "X" Code (390 2V) Mustangs in the past, one a coupe, the other a convertible......
Clois,
Get me the full VIN, if it was built on the assembly line (even pre-production), Kevin Marti will have the records for it. Perhaps someone restamped a tag and is trying to play everyone else off for fools, again as Michael has already stated, stranger things have happened.....
Bill S.
