That is what the side pipes are for. You get left and right channel. That's all the music you need in a Cobra.
PS: In many states it's illegal to wear headphones of any type.

Mount in in the dash like original cars had.

Some tips on sterios in Cobras.
Don't get the factory sterio. You can do better, cheaper.
It is a nice option to have when you want music when cruising, or stuck in traffic. However, a Cobra is arguably the worst listening environment for a sterio. You can't hear it at all over about 45 MPH because of the exhaust, and wind noise.
Don't spend a lot for the sterio. About $150 or so is enough to get the necessary features. Stick with name brands. It needs
pre-amp output jacks. It doesn't need high power. A tape deck won't skip like a CD does when the car bounces around.
You need a good, but basic 2 channel sterio amplifier to mount in the trunk. The amp should be around 100 watts per channel RMS, not peak. Some turn on with a hot wire from the sterio, and some when they receive a sound signal. Spend around $100 - $150. Name brands are not necessary.
Speakers. You only have room for two, and there is no good place to put them. The CR has a little shelf behind the seats, others have nothing. You may have to compromise on size, but you can't compromise on power handling capacity. Just to hear them, you'll be cranking up the volume much louder than you would in any other car. Back to name brands again. The Infinity Kappa is the best I've found to handle the power without distortion. And you need to put them in some sort of small enclosure. You can buy them for 6 x 9's if you have room.
And you don't have to spend a fortune on this stuff. Don't go to Best Buy, Circuit City, or Crutchfields. This market is so competitive it pays to shop on-line. Peruse amazon.com, cnet.com (just to name two I know) for electronics. Think I paid $70 or $90 for the pair of Infinity Kappas.
It's tough to secure things in a Cobra so don't make your sterio look expensive. If your speakers have Radio Shack grilles on them, would be thieves will pass them up. Same with the sterio, no Alpines.

Music to my ears..
xlr8or
I would be pushing to hear the stereo over the side pipes.
...cannot hear the Police sirens
Now the sound of stereo side pipes at 3200rpm - that's music

Hey guys, my opinion only so, don't get a rise in your shorts !
LEAVE THE RADIOS FOR THE HOT RODS.
The cobras make their own beautiful music !!!!!

The sound of the cobra is in the top 5 reasons to own one. If you need music, get a friggin IPOD and some earphones. WHYB ADD WEIGHT TO A COBRA.

I have several cars with fairly elaborate audio systems in them, and the best one of all is in my Cobra. It has no speakers.

well, to each their own..that is what makes this place so much fun.
i have a custom autosound 'secret audio' radio buried under my dash, 2 big humping speakers under the dash, antennae buried behind the foot kick panel on pass side and a big power amp in the trunk neither radio nor speakers show ,except for infra red control face panel that is about 2x4 inches under the dash. that too can be swiveled up virtually out of sight or attached with velcro.
now, you dont get great 'music' ( would be vastly improved if i had cockpit speakers ) , and some would say ya get 'noise', but it does provide me with something to listen to in 5th gear, or when slowly cruising around town or at car shows . it can be heard in most circumstances but not at higher rpm range. if i had to do it over again, i would just mount the radio on the underside of the dash and say screw the critics.
i take several 4-6 hr one way trips a summer in the spf, and in 5th gear on those long drives the tunes from the radio are nice to listen to . musical side pipes and inside music speakers. works for me . bill

Like I'm not driving fast enough already.
So I'm coming down Route 63 (smooth, up and down, back and forth, and no lights or stop signs) after a day at Lime Rock and a song from my youth comes on like "Satisfaction" or "Light My Fire" or "Shut Down", and now I just have to go even faster!
That's why I don't have a sound system.
