Check out Joelafives FIA for sale! Very nice car and priced right. Very clean and details are nice. Of course you will need to be an FIA fan.
Good luck!

Excaliber,
That ERA may have been 95% what you wanted but at an asking price of 25,000 with a S/O didn't hurt either. I'm still sorry I missed out on that one.

Of course I eventually got it at a price well over the $25K starting "bid". But that $25K initial number sure as heck generated maximum "buzz" concerning the car.
The car DID need a lot of work, in the end I would say "you get what you pay for". It would have been down right tragic for someone to have bought it at a "nice price" only to see that quickly eveaporate due to mounting "mechanic bills". I do most ALL of my own work, so for me it's been kind of cool working on it. I'm probably "into it" right at what it's worth by now, but who knows what the market will do!

Not sure if cars are going up or down in price as I have not followed it lately (bought my ERA just after christmas). But lots of good advice here from other posters.
I looked for about 6 months to find the right car. My 1st choice was ERA, but was looking also at contemporary and SPF. I set a max budget I wanted to spend that was what I was comfortable with for a "toy". In the end I went over my buget, but not that much and I got the car I really wanted. But like said above expect to have to tweak and fix things... that is the nature of these cars and I actually enjoy doing it myself. In my case I am "de-tuning" my engine to more of my liking and it has (as they all do) turned into a bigger job then first thought.
My advice is to network with local cobra folks if possible to determine what you really want and check out for sales here, Cobra Country and EBAY daily. Also sometimes a "good deal" is not the best measure at the end of the day.
Good luck finding a ride!

Don't sit and watch to long as the world will pass you by.. if you have the means to get a Cobra and you seriously want one, just set a price in your mind and if its reasonable it will happen... thats what I did and now I have a BDR.. my brother is such a procrastinator that he never does anything, always waiting for the best deal which in his mind is free.. of course so far no one has taken him up on his offer.. if I offered him a 1000 acres of land on the beach for $1000 he would have to think about it.. the good thing is he will die with money in his pockets..

As soon as the statute of limitations ends I'll tell you what I paid for Contemporary CCX-3152 former Don Borders owned and built demonstrator for Image Auto Works, Boyd Coddington Cobra Prototype, Kit Kar feature car (August 1987) that I found in a crack heads garage (first image in my galery)...
The deals are out there. Be patient...

To echo what Tking put up,my car was on Hillbanks showroom floor for 3+months with only ONE serious looker.Thankfully he bought.
And just prior to that,it was at the Goodtimes show in Scottsdale where there were 2000+ cars on the field. Not a single nibble.A 'Vette guy was parked next to me and was completely baffled. He said i should have been able to sell my car seven times over. And he was right. But i couldn't.
This leads me to a couple of posers:
Are there just too many Cobra's out there?
Is the Cobra "saturation point" a lot closer than we realize?
Is the proliferance of the "cheaper" kits impacting the sale of "higher" end cars?

Cobra Bill,
I believe there will always be a market for well built cobras, they are too popular and way too much fun for everyone to pass on. But, the sudden popularity of the entire muscle car, sports car, and new sports car market is making the decision tough on everyone.
Example #1:
2005 GT500 vs. 1966 cobra replica----- for some a difficult decision, a new car with a warranty and little or no driveability issues, registering problems (CA 100), both have similar performance - now don't kill me on this one, but I'm talking overall performance, handling, braking, top speed.
Might even be easier to talk the bride into a stang.....roof, air cond. pwr this and that, child seat in the back, you get the picture.
Example #2:
Muscle cars are HOT!
Mustangs in Shelby, Boss, CJ, or SCJ form, 1969 Camaro Z28, any GTO, Chevelle SS 454, mid year vettes, yada yada, increasing in value at least 10% per year vs. a cobra replica which hold their own but do not appreciate significantly. Folks weigh this stuff out, some go purely with their heart some with heart AND wallet.
For me, I can't/won't live without a cobra, but, not a slam dunk easy decision to make considering the other choices out there.
Regards, Bret.
