SB100 Superformance For Sale in Los Angeles
2001 Superformance - Car # 995 for sale in Los Angeles, CA - registered as SB-100 (no smog required). 29,000 miles, red with silver stripes, 351W engine (built by House of Cobras), Tremec 5-speed transmission, glove box, fire extinguisher, IRS, soft top, 5-point Deist seat belts, excellent condition except for a few minor chips due to regular road use.
If you are reading this board, you know the quality of a Superformance. And I presume you are also aware of the tough vehicle registration issues here in CA. This vehicle is registered under the highly desired SB-100 rule - never needs to be smoged and you can change the engine to a jet engine without any smog issues.
Asking price is $49,000 or best offer. You can see pictures at the following link (please disregard the Nevada plates as some of these pics were taken about 8 months ago, before the SB-100 registration). The CA plates are "1 2FEAR".

Forgot to list that this car also has a full alarm system with remote. Alarm has starter disable from under the hood, shock sensor, and radar sensor for interior protection. To stop false alarms, I've set it up so if the shock or radar are triggered, alarm only does a warning chirp. If the doors open, alarm fully goes off.
Price has been reduced to $45,000 FIRM.
Problems: Smith Oil temp gague doesn't work ($130 part from Hillbank Motors) and passenger side wiper doesn't work (I've never had to use the wipers living in So. Cal). Very minor stuff. Other than that, it's in excellent condition.
If you e-mail me and don't hear a response, it may be due to my spam filter inadvertantly not delivering your e-mail, so make sure to call me at (310) 477-1235 (evening - or leave message during the day).
$45,000 firm for a 2001 Superformance WITH SB-100 registration. I'd hate to see this car go to someone from out of state after the trouble I went through to get the CA SB-100 registraion. Priced to sell.......

Howard, that's an understatement. $45K for a fully compliant SPF in So Cal is not only a fair price, but a really decent one for the first time buyer who has no freeking clue what they are in for if they choose to buy new or out-of-state. Good luck selling her...perty car.

Thanks Dean. It's time to buy a house and I can use the funds from the car. I haven't advertised it anywhere else yet, I thought I'd give it a few weeks here on ClubCobra before posting to CobraCountry and other places. And I need to take some better pictures.
I'm definately gonna miss her, but I have no doubts that I'll own one again in the near future. And yes, it will definately be another Superformance. I've had nothing but the best experience with this car.

Howard,
The car looks great in the pictures. Could you provide a little more information such as Horsepower, torque, rear end gears, etc? Also can you get touch up paint for that color to dab on the rock picks? That was one reason I went with white, is it is easy to fillin my tons of rock picks.
Thanks,
Ron

Ron, I purchased this car used from House of Cobras in Anaheim just before they closed their doors last year. It was a consignment sale and the owner was in Nevada. I never met the previous owner, House of Cobras handled the whole transaction.
As a novice, I purchased from House of Cobras because they had a great reputation. They thoroughly went over the entire vehicle before selling it on consignment. Just gave me a peace of mind that people familiar with this model have inspected it and deemed it safe to drive.
Per House of Cobras, this car does not have a standard crate motor. It was built by House of Cobras originally. They had estimated the horsepower in the upper 300's. As this is my weekend crusier around town, I have never taken it for a dyno. It is very street friendly. I would not recommend this car for a person that needs it for racing/track only - they would want something beefier. But for the weekend warrior and occasional track time, it's got plenty of go. There was a small oil leak from the rear main seal, but I had this fixed a few weeks ago, so no more leaks (I have the receipt for the repairs).
To the best of my knowledge, the transmission is a Tremec 5-speed. The rear-end gears are the standard Superformance gears (I believe 3.73).
The nicks are very small, barely visible. I have no idea if touch up paint is available or not, maybe Hillbank motors can give you more info. The nicks are so small that personally, I would rather see the nicks than a glob of touch up paint :-)
And to answer your e-mail, my BAR sticker is on the side, not the firewall. I'll be taking some more pictures this weekend and I'll make sure to make the tag visible in the pictures. And per the DMV inspector, I didn't have to visit CHP for a VIN since the Superformance serial number is both under the hood and under the dash. Allegedly, you need a VIN assigned by the CHP if the car serial unmber only appears once. So basically, my VIN on my title is the same number as my Superformance serial number.
I hope this answers your questions. More pics on the way after this weekend.
