It does seem very high (I assume that price is US Dollars). There is an Aluminium FE 427 for sale here in NZ for (almost) $30,000NZ.

Without details we will never know. Could be worth $30k if it was gold plated.

Could be CLOSE to $30 depending on carb/induction.

Default Shelby Engine

You know I get tired of coming on this site to see what is available and all I seem to see is a lot of people who have no interest in buying an item, but feel the uncontrollable need to cast their unsolicited opinion as to the value of it. It is not fair to leesfla2001 for you "know it alls" to, as far as I am concerned, compromise his ability to sell his item on this site. If you re-read the ad it states: "$30,000.00 OBO". Let someone who is actually in the market for a motor like this make a legitimate offer on the engine!

dunkle... you are quite correct.

We have to periodically remind the membership that replies to threads in the For Sale forums should be limited to specific questions about the product directed to the seller.

If you feel you need to advise the seller on his tactics or pricing, please do it in a PM or e-mail,

Thanks
Ron

This is a typical CC response to a poorly written description of whats for sale at a price considerably higher than "typical" market value. There is not enough information to answer the simple question: WHY so much? The add, as written, suggests to me someone is looking for a "mark". I resent that.

The sale price of various replica pieces, cars, trans, motors, impacts a lot of us. As a consumer of like products my opinion is "we" have a right to know the pertinent details up-front. Why? Because it's a free forum and a free add.

It IS in "bad taste" to cut down a "For Sale" listing, but sometimes an add just "asks for it". Perhaps it does have a high dollar intake system? I don't know, and it's NOT listed!

IF YOU ARE NOT A POTENTIAL BUYER - with a specific question for the seller....just move on, OK?

Mark:

I would also love to see the build sheet. Can you post it. I would assume for the price you are asking, the engine has a billet crank and a Paxton Supercharger. If so let me know.

Nice attitude! I was considering giving this guy a call since I am in the market for an engine for my car on order, but not now! I guess this guy hasn't been in touch with CSE lately or seen any of the pictures that several have posted from the SAAC event last weekend. The pictures taken from the stop at the engine shop in Gardena showed the aluminum blocks and heads stacked like firewood!

Wait a minute,
"... anything else is just wannabes..." ???

Shelby alloy engines are REPLICAS of the REAL DEAL, a "wannbe" of an original 427 side oiler. But a genuine Shelby alloy engine IS very cool indeed, good luck with your sale.
