I knew the owner and know this car very well and have personally inspected the vehicle since the owners' recent passing and it is pristine and properly stored for winter hibernation.

everyone hypes an adv, it is the greatest - blah blah blah. well, not to be guilty of that cliche, this car really needs no written description - at least to those who have seen the car and knew the owner- as it stands above the rest. but for those others that still need some hype :

This car was used but not abused. It is virtually flawless with enough Zaino coats that the finish looks like glass and paint appears so deep you think you could walk thru it. The engine bay almost requires the wearing of sunglasses when the hood is lifted as it is all polished or chromed.

The sound of this impressive engine is duplicated by not many other cars on the road, as not too many have a power plant like this one .

This car was a labor of love for the owner - painstakingly taken care of and worshipped, whether parked or being driven...it put a smile on his face, as it will the new owner.

as they say, you get what you pay for. this is worth the trip. Bill

Default Labor of love

I have seen this car in person and there are no adequate words to describe the true value of this car. There may be trailer queens that could look better but there are none that also act the part. This is a work of art in motion.

Steve was a good friend and I miss him every day. Every day my mind wanders to the wonderful memories of Steve talking about his labor of love. This car was not thown together to be trashed about at racetracks drag racing, like it could very easily. This was well thought out as a lasting expression of quality. Q.U.A.L.I.T.Y. is the difference.

Default This car originated from Dynamic Motorsports

No Bushy, this car was sold by Dynamic Motorsports in Ohio and is a one onwer, one driver car.

Lance and Deborah of Superformance Headquarters, USA was kind enough to list this car even though they are not getting a dime for it's sale. Many other dealers are also spreading the word before too long as well.

You see, this car is kind of "famous." I can confidently say it would be virtually impossible to find another Superfoprmance car as absolutely perfect as this. All the dealers are familiar with this car and well over 500 owners can tell you a lot about this car just by mentioning "SP-1696". It is that well known and respected in the Superformance community. And those guys really know their Cobras!

There are no hidden issues with this car, nor could there ever be without hundreds upon hundreds of other fellow owners knowing about it.

So, if you are looking for a perfect ready to go Cobra that is completely sorted out yet by looing at it, in it and under it, you'd SWEAR it was BRAND NEW and never left the show room floor... Well, there is no question...

This it IT !

Hi All

I did the engine and transmission install and all regular maintenance on this car and can vouch for everything that has been posted...

Steve Brown was a perfectionist and only wanted the best of everything on his car... If he could shine it, it had to have it... Nothing used, nothing old... One of the reasons he with the aluminum Shelby block was because he wanted even the block to be new and wanted the best...

If anyone wants more details on this car or it's history, please don't hesitate to contact me...

The one detail I might argue has to do with Froggyman's comment "This car was not thown together to be trashed about at racetracks drag racing" and perhaps I am simply misinterpreting his comment. In any event, this car is built to be placed on the track and be competitive should Steve ever want to do so. That said, I agree with Froggy that Steve never had any such aspirations and HIS intent with the car was to have a "work of art" that was street worthy and regularly driven...mostly easy with spirts of spirited driving....just enough to stretch it's legs and remind Steve that he had a racecar beneath his seat. Steve wanted a car that could not be upgraded because he thought of everything and did it with pure class. This car is the Mona Lisa of Cobradom.... not to be improved upon.

Randall.... I think I have an legitimate buyer for this car (at the asking price)who lives near me. I have an ulterior motive to ask this question because I wanted to ship something back east. Is it Jay who is delivering this car or do you have another vendor? Is there a mileage limitation? If I plan this out right perhaps Steve's widow, the buyer, Jay and I can all come out of this deal a little better off.

Thanks

Randy, I've been back to this ad many times. From what I have heard re the car -- and Steve (and Craig)-- I have no doubt that the car is absolutely flawless. All the right stuff, too. I'd love to upgrade to this car, even do another SB100. Hope Gary's guy buys it fast. Before its too late to save me from myself!

Thumbs up Reply to: Gary Osborne & Potential Buyer

Hi Gary, sorry for the delay, I was offline most of the day.

To answer your question, Jay mMcArdle, a good friend of the Brown family, lives in Virginia and has volunteered to hauler their Cobra in his personal enclosed trailer to the new owner anywhere in the 48 States, for FREE, as long as the asking price is met. Please note that this feebie was NOT added into the price of the car, nor is it a negotiating figure... it's just Jay trying to help the sale along with his own time, money, euqipment and fuel. A very commendable favor for him to offer up like that!

I'm sorry for not getting to you earlier Gary, but this afternoon another prospective buyer called me and said he is working out the details to purchase the Cobra. He had contacted me a few days ago and called me yesterday as well. He mentioned he was going to call back, so I'll give that until tomorrow to play out if that's OK with you. Then if that time frame passes, tell your buyer if he is willing, that Jay is ready to roll and he can have his new Cobra at his doorstep within two days if he wants! No charge.

Craig will want to give the car a final check over and close full inspection before it leaves as well when a sale is finalized.

Default Gary you misunderstood

Gary what I meant was that I wanted to highlight Steve's quest for Quality and no abuse. In any case we all agree that what we all want is what Steve would have wanted us to do. Help Karen out.

If I can be of any help, please do let me know.

Juan

Yep...I look at this ad everyday. This car has been my desktop background.

I think this thread does a pretty nice job at demonstrating how open and helpful the SPF network is as a group. My personal experience has been terrific. Who ever buys the car...also buys into this network of friendly support. From the vast dealer network...to the private owners...it's a wonderful thing!

Randy...have you heard from the other potential buyer from VA? My friend is pretty fired-up about this car thinking he would be King of the Hill at almost any Cobra gathering with this one (and he would be --- or at least rank up there right next to the originals). He is supposed to be boarding an airplane this afternoon to head back home (I gave him your phone numbers -- I hope you don't mind), so you might expect to hear from him directly either tonight or in the morning depending upon his flight times and other commitments. Will you be in the shop tomorrow? I need to get out of the middle other than I have that little shipping issue to VA that Jay could help me with should this go down. Of course, it would be much easier on Jay if the guy from VA buys it but the most important thing is that Karen is helped and the car goes to a nice home.

Default Potential Buyer from VA

Gary, sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday. But the Friday 6pm deadline for the other buyer I told you about, was extended over the weekend until this Monday.

I am still working with the VA buyer when he ran out of time on Friday to get some information that he needed to close the deal and send a deposit. After speaking with Karen, he was offered the benefit of the doubt until Monday to present the purchase. He seems like a real nice fellow and this sale looks like it could be 95% buttoned up. But of course, nothing is final until the cash has traded hands.

I have had two other very interested buyers contact me as well, with one eager to pruchase for the full asking price, however, I have told them that they will have to be listed as backups after your buyer has had the chance to make the purchase.

So if the extended deadline on Monday evening passes and this pending sale still has not been concluded, tell your buyer to be prepared to transfer direct checking funds, and this car is his.

Randy...I am certainly glad for Karen that the car is sold and with the sale happening so fast with people standing in line with checks at full price it kind of makes you wonder if Karen should have asked for more. What a car.

Well, congrats to the happy buyer. My guy will just have to go back to the drawing board. He really wanted this car. I don't know where he will find something to satisfy him now. I guess he will just have to start from scratch and build a new one to his own specs....hope he has deep pockets if he wants to duplicate 1696..... LOL

Default SP-1696 could have sold for more !

Gary, yes, the buyer did get a great value!

In fact, behind him we had two other buyers only hours after with cash in the hand ready to buy at the full price as well. The final buyer lucked out and narrowly escaped a bidding war, and from the sounds of the other two buyers, 75,000 was *not* out of the question.

BTW, the current buyer purchased it "sight unseen"... and he will be blown away when he sees just how much BETTER this car *really* is than the very conservative descriptions given here when he finally gets to see it in person!
