Default Classic Roadster "427" Cobra

Offered here is my Classic Roadsters “427” COBRA completed in 2004 at Ed Combs shop (Classics by Elite) in London Ohio.
If you are over 6 foot, this is the car for you. Due to the design of the Classic Roadsters chassis, the seats are mounted between the frame members, not over them. The result is a lower, more comfortable seating position and more room for your feet (I wear size 14 D shoes). I designed and installed new floor pans to lower the seats and foot wells an additional 2-1/4” so a tall driver can look through the windshield - not at the top of the windshield frame. Other features that distinguish this car from the run of the mill are the full width, track ready roll bar, custom designed and built steering column and Comp Cobra inspired dash layout.
This car was conceived to look like a race car but touring comfort was the main goal. As such it was laid out to be a reliable cruiser, not a high strung, temperamental, difficult to drive race car. To that end you will find a docile drive train that allows 800 RPM cruise in 5th gear with no complaints from the custom built, 302 based, 331 stroker motor. And yet, when the right foot is stretched, the Ford small block answers the call. Although it is not a 500 horsepower monster it is plenty fast enough. With the 3.70 to 1 rear axle it is at home cruisin’ main street or the interstate.
The car is not “just out of the assembly shop” perfect. If it was it would be going to one of the famous auction houses and bring much more than I am asking for it. I believe in telling it like it is. The paint job falls just short of ultimate show quality. There are minor defects that you might find on any production car in addition to the wear and tear of street driving, but the car still looks exceptional and I always get complements or thumbs up wherever I take it.
The car is down here in Florida and currently registered with New York plates as a 66 Ford.
