Well, sadly, the time has come for me to sell my beloved Cobra. Unfortunately, the car does not fit into my family life any longer. My two year old son is turning out to be a huge car lover. Since the Cobra has only 2 seats, and including my wife, there are 3 of us, it just doesn’t fit. I would feel horribly guilty leaving my son with a babysitter every time my wife and I went to a car show or out for a cruise. He would love to come with us (OK, he won’t come every time we go out….). So I need to sell this car so I can pick up something with a back seat.
The car was built in September 2001 by Palmer Classic Creations in Kentucky. I have the documentation on the build. I purchased the car in March of 2002 from the original owner. He decided he wanted something with a top. The car had about 2500 miles on it when I bought it. Since I bought it, the car has been maintained by a professional mechanic who builds Cobras, and has a fleet of about 30 local Cobras he services. So everything has been done right, and I have all documentation. Some specifics on the car.
It is titled as a 1965, so it does not require PA emissions inspection.
The engine is a 351W from a 1983 truck. I purchased it from a member of FFCobra forums. It was completed rebuilt and the details are as follows (as provided to me)
Oil drainback paths, entire lifter valley polished smooth
Oil pump and filter passages enlarged and matched to the high volume pump openings
Cylinders bored .040” over, honed
Pistons deburred and balanced
Rods reconditioned, balanced and had ARP bolts installed
Crank ground 10/10 under, micropolished and balanced
Entire rotating assembly balanced and matched with late model Mustang flywheel
Rings are chrome molly racing rings, custom fitted to each cylinder, with a .016” top ring gap and .012” second ring gap
Heads are World Products Windsor Jr. with 1.94/1.60 oversized valves
9.3 to 1 compression ratio, so it runs on 93 unleaded
Roller rocker using Crane Cams Roller kit. Cam has 216/224 degree duration at .050” and .520/.542 inch lift
Competition Cams 1.6 roller rockers, hardened push rods and guide plates
Edelbrock Performer RPM dual plane manifold
Holley 750cfm carb
New Mallory Unilite distributor
Engine just received a tune up with new plugs last week.
Tri-States 2 row aluminum radiator. Keeps the car cool at all times
T5 5 speed transmission. Shifts into all gears with no problems.
Highback Jegs seats. I have the original style seats that came with the car as well
Ford 8.8 rear end with 3.73 gears
FFR 3 link rear suspension
New sealed front ball joints
Manual steering using a Mustang quick ratio rack.
Car is painted Plymouth Prowler yellow with black stripes
17” Centerline wheels with 245/45/17 front tires and 275/40/17 rear tires
Windwings and sunvisors
AM/FM cassette with speakers mounted between the seats on the rear panel
The car currently has approx. 7600 miles on it. It runs and drives terrific. Engine makes approx. 350-375hp and the vehicle weighs about 2200lbs., so it can fly!!
The only known issue with the car is that when the rear gear ratio was changed from 2.73s to 3.73s the speedometer gear was not changed. So the speedometer does not read properly. Would just need to change the gear to the right size.
Car is priced at $25,000 as I want to sell it quickly. The quicker I sell it, the less painful it will be. E-mail me at
