WANTED:427 Street
Looking to buy a street style 427 if there's a good used one to be had. The closer to original the better ~ Undercar exhaust, solid color, FE 427 or 428 (preferred), no roll-bar, glovebox, etc... If you know of one, please let me know. Thanks,
David |
You won't do better than this ERA for $46K. I'd like to buy it myself.

I'm All over it! Thanks!

Sweeeet Roadster!
Go for it. |
I may be selling my superformance #446. Red, rear exhaust, roll bar, hood scope, glove box, 351w, tremec. I would think somewhere in the neighborhood of 37K would be fair.

David, I concur with ST. Your search is over. This is the car I was thinking of too, and wondered what happened to it. Lucky for you, its still for sale. Even the Green makes it that much more Street-authentic. Good Luck. :) |
Decooney, ST
I called the dealer the Saturday morning and it was long gone, and their site listing was not updated... :-( I was ready to put down a deposit and buy a plane ticket... Oh well. Thanks for the tip. Speedyzdc, I looked in your gallery and didn't see any pictures... Though I really don't want the scoop and roll-bar, I can't really say without pics. Can you post some? Dwight, Thanks for posting Mike Lane's car. It's surely a good looker, but it would take more re-fitting than I'm interested in to get it to the "street" look. Thanks for the post anyway. Anyone else know of anything? Thanks, David |
I don't know if it's still around, but here's another ERA. This one is even more "correct" but it's almost twice the price.
I promise that this is the last one I know of. http://www.prestigecorvettes.com/car.php?CarID=663 |
Superformance can build a new street roadster for you for a good bit less than $85K.
|
I know the first one it's Bruce's car. Nice guy, really nice car.
|
OK... I must admit the green one is ten's of thousands above my budget... BUT, I did stare at it for several minutes, breathing shallowly, and running a few justification scenarios through my head... I must know where they obtained their sunburst rims... They alone probably account for a few thousand $'s, as hard to find as they are....
Now! back to reality... FWIW, my plan B, which I think is no slouch, is to do a Unique, just like that one, only for a lot less. I must say thanks again fellas... but, just too keep it real, less than $50K would be an additional parameter. DD |
Era-722
Howdy David,
I am finishing up ERA-722 that looks just like the car for $85k... I don't think I am going to sell it but if you want someone to put one together for you contact me off line and we can talk. Peter Portante up at ERA knows me and my pal Steve who's done 3 of these already. 722 is a clone of Peter's ERA and his original AC Cobra Street car he just sold. Feel free to call Peter up at ERA to verify. Depending on the engine you want $50k is not that far out of the question. Take care, Frank |
Hi Frank,
I peeked at your gallery pics and your car's looking very fine... I'll PM you and we can discuss particulars. Thanks for offering the help. David |
era with 428

RRaabe2690@aol.com He has a beautiful street car for sale. Solid blue with a 428. Good luck. Dan C |
"Street" Cobras came with a glove box, the competition cars did not. The "street" version also had the 'air splitter' in front of the radiator, the S/C's did not. Street cars ran 'bumper hoops' front and rear. MY car is a 'street car' modified to the S/C look. Bumper hoops removed (in storage), roll bar and side pipes added. 427 side oiler (the REAL deal)!
Offered at $45K. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...view-right.jpg |
I apologize for not remembering enough details, but there was a superformance dealer selling one or maybe even two street cars in roller form on ebay (might have been dynamic in ohio? But don't quote me on that). They were asking something like 35K to move the cars. "Street" trim cars seem to move a lot slower. You might just give a couple SPF dealers a call and see if they happen to have a roller in street trim sitting in their show rooms.

Dan C,
Thanks for the tip. I sent Rob a message. Excalibur, Nice car, but I think by the time I shipped it to the 48, re-moved the side pipes & roll-bar, patched the holes, ordered a new hood, ran the undercar exhaust, and had it re-painted, I'd be waaaay in the hole. But you did give me a case of SO envy. ;-) Thanks anyway! |
Dlang,
I'll give the SPF dealers a call. Thanks, David |
New hood? It cost me BIG money to have that hood painted black, I like it! Some of the original race cars ran a blacked out hood, thats one reason I did it. Another was to 'set it apart' from the several other 'red' Cobras on Island.
...free shipping to Calif has been offered in my original 4 Sale thread... But your point is not lost! Many of us buying a used Cobra at a 'good price' subsequently spend considerably more getting the car to 'our personal taste' level. This makes a strong case for buying NEW and getting it your way the first time around. RED hood and bumper hoops! Note the 'shorty' side pipes and the 'race' look. Cobras are pure fun no matter how you 'dress them'! :D http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...am_Stripes.jpg |
