I always have a sense of loss when I see one up for sale. Are you leaving the hobby, or just looking for someting different.

Ron I am getting the itch to build again and want to do a GT40.

This car is an absolute gas to drive and is very easy to just cruise around town. Stick your foot in it and pulls like a freight train.

I feel better hearing about the '40. We once emailed a while back when I was looking for FE parts...I think you had a 428 block +/-crank if memory serves. I ended up taking a chance on a 427 s/o, still haven't started it up, so who knows how I did.

If you don't mind my asking, whos GT are you looking at? Superformance, RCR, CAV, etc? I seriously lust after those too, but being a Porsche guy at heart, I'd have to seriously look at RCR's 917.

Sure sounds like a great price. There is a small block Kirkham (427 body style) here in the Islands for sale as well. Offered in the 90's, which makes yours look like a 'real' bargain!

I'm looking at the RCR40. It's the only one that me and my big feet fit in comfortably.

It's fine once your on the freeway. My motor makes lots of torque down low so it doesn't mind running down the freeway at 2200 RPM and 80MPH. I really love the gear spreads from 1st thru 4th though.

If this were 2010 I'd say SOLD! But it isn't and I can't. I did go up and watch the Kirkham informercial last night after reading your for sale post yesterday. Thanks for the inspiration.

I am prepared to offer an extensive collection of modern assault rifles and .45 ACP (all mostly Colt) and a great knife collection as a down payment, and my indentured servitude for a period of 3 years... (you think I am kidding hugh)

Kirkham 2010 or bust!

Buzzmobile:
Did you have the TKO 600 0.64 OD with the 3.73? I'm going with a 331 stroker, 295/50/15 rear tires, TKO 600 0.64 and 3.73 rear end. This should give me about 2150 rpm at 70 mph. If I went with a 3.54 rear end I'd be doing about 2000 rpm at 70 mph.

I have the tremec 3350. here is a nifty little calcuator

http://www.secondstrike.com/Technical/GearCalc.asp

this helped me out a bunch. I have a 427 with just under 600HP and quite a bit of torque. the loss in performance has been minimal with the gear change and the change in "useful" ranges of the gears is great. I can actually use all the gears!

Scott- I too love the RCR GT-40. If I could sell my cobra for enough money to buy from Fran, I'd do it right now. Very nice car & Fran is a great guy. I talked to him on the phone & was very impressed.
Good luck & have fun with the build.

I don't recall ever seeing another KMP that didn't have an FE in it. Not a criticism, just an honest question. Why the 460 and not an FE? Beautiful car, good luck with the sale.

I believe this is the only Kirkham with a 460 in it.
This engine came along at a price I couldn't refuse on a known, quality built engine. It did require some custom pieces but I didn't have to make any permanent changes to the car.

I do have a 68 428 block, 1U crank, rods and front cover available that can go with the car if you must have an FE.

Mod Note-

Just a reminder... please limit posts in the Cobras For Sale forum to only specific questions about the car, addressed to the seller.

Thanks
