"SOLD" CSX4236 Shelby Cobra, HRE built,"SOLD"
I am considering selling my Shelby Cobra CSX 4236. I am the second owner and have owned the car for almost 2 years. I bought it with 18 miles on the odometer and it has around 600 miles on it now. The car was built by Shelby American in Las Vegas and assembled by Billy at HRE Motorsports in NY. The color of the car is a sunset orange metallic with a Black leather interior, wool carpets and floor mats. Full Simpson harness on the drivers side. Shelby gauges and leather side pockets. The engine is a Shelby aluminum 427 stroked to 454 and dynoed at 535 HP and 525 lbs torgue. Build sheet and dyno sheet available on reguest. Shelby aluminum heads, valve train, intake and all the other goodies. Barry Grant carburetor, turkey pan from Kirkham. Tremec TKOII 5 speed transmission and Shelby rear with 3.73 gears. Wool carpet in the trunk along with a new Gill G35 battery. Shut off switch in cockpit. S/S jack points. Custom competition sidepipes, HPC coated. Leather spats. Vintage 15" 6 pin knockoffs with Goodyear billboard tires. 200 miles on them. Extra set of PSE 17" knockoffs and BF Goodrich G force tires. 300 miles on them. Leather tonneau cover. I have an appraisel from HRE for $105,000.00 available also. That was the purchase price in 2001. I have pictures of the build and receipts also. The car is mint in everyway and completely sorted. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it across the country. With the new cars at $60,000.00 for a roller and a wait list, I believe my car at $78,000.00 or best offer is a fair price. I believe you can see pictures of the car under my user name or email me and I will send them to you. I can be reached at 917-678-0277 for further information. Thanks, Mike

Okay, here is the usual question.
Why are you selling? How did you manage to ONLY put 600 miles on such an awesome car.
I have had my ERA for just about a year and have managed to put 1600 miles on it and I wish I had some more seat time. Next week I'm on vacation so there should be plenty of opportunities.
I am not trying to bust balls, just curious......

On my 3rd Cobra and am just now begining to understand why some cars have so few miles. I USED to drive the wheels of mine, but lately I've been VERY busy and just have not had the time.
So the occasional weekend when I can drive it, wow, it's SO totally cool. You can't 'rent' something like this, you can only 'buy' it. All though my car is listed for sale, I've been having serious second thoughts about that. It's just TO awesome to pass on that occasional weekend blast down the highway, no other car can compare. I could see myself putting only a few hundred INTENSE miles on it this year and enjoying every mile of it enough to justify keeping it!
Low miles, it's starting to make sense!

My job requires me to travel quite often and for extended periods of time. Seems like when I get back its either raining, or lately to hot to take it out. Being in the northeast does not help. I also have a Harley and a Meyers Manx dune buggy that I drive around. But like the cobra, the Harley has 3000 miles on it in 7 years and the buggy probably has 1000 miles on it in the 6 years I have owned it. I try and drive the cobra atleast once a week in the summer for about 10-15 miles around the block. Enough to get the oil up to temperature. I have taken it to a few shows and cruise nights in the area but all of these were in a 25 mile radius. We have a lake front cottage in Maine and I have been thinking lately I would like to find an old Chris Craft runabout, either restored or in need of, to drive around the lake at sunset. I find I actually like working on things more than driving them. A wooden boat should put that theory to the test. By the way, I forgot to mention in the posting that this is a fiberglass car. It has the finished edges, and the wheel wells were undercoated by HRE. Oh, by the way, you guys shamed me into driving it. Turned out to be a beautiful day in the northeast. I had a blast driving it on some back country roads. New mileage is 768
Thanks for posting. Mike
