His (Airheadace, Mrfigit) every comment on the WCC has been in error, and he has proven himself to be a biased agitator. The rest of us speaking against him have exposed that clearly.

He has a vendetta against WCC for some reason known only to him, and he should keep it to himself since it is a petty personal problem.

Back in Black: Your car is awesome. Enjoy it and ignore those who choose to say rip you for being different. To me one cool thing about a West Coast is that it is an original.

Enjoy your car and all the looks you get driving it! How much longer until it is on the road?

I only posted that MrFixit's post were very similar in linguistic(sp) content to the "Toivo"-- I've read other of the T's posts in other forums and he does seem to have a knowledge of engines,etc.. These current posts by Mr Fix-it were similar.
If I'm wrong I apolgize to him--but the poster certainly has all the attributes of "Toivo"--I know I talked with him off line a couple of times. Toivo is a troll and gets his giggles off by po everyone if he can trip their trigger.

There is only one BiB, and only one custom car like my incoming POISSON girl. We are unique!

Right now Vern is finishing the intake for the custom fuel injection...the motor finally has all it's high polish parts in, (Water pump, timing cover, intake) and it should be running soon...then it's final paint, interior, stereo system, (autometer) gauges, wheels/tires, etc... and she will be done. No exact ETA...I have specified quite a few extras, but the only items I have yet to supply personally are two Autometer gauges (Going with the Autometer black face *traditional chrome bezel* electrical types, ... the fuel pressure gauge with isolator, and the speedo are all that's not ready to ship to Vern)

So, I HOPE she will be here soon

Washington state rules - at least six months of the year...

I like each and every cobra made - real, replica, whatever...

That includes West Coast - a cobra I considered and have not ruled out - it is an excellent product...

That includes Emerson - Bill is a great guy and builds an awesome custom cobra...

That includes JBL - my current favorite...

And of course ERA, Shelby, EM, Classic, Unique, SPF et al...

That out of the way - what I don't like - are folks that seem to measure their own success by the failure of others and feel the need to confess everyone else's sins. That includes, but is not limited to, Toivo and Mr. Fixit or whatever he is now calling himself.

I have received a lot of help in my journey for the perfect cobra build for me and thoroughly enjoyed some truly unique characters that the sport has brought together. A heartfelt thank-you is extended...

I need to work on suffering fools or at the very least indulging them. And hey BnB and G.R. - glad to have you as neighbors. Lets get together sometime - preferably this summer...

My West Coast Cobra is awsome. Out of my first 2 shows I took First in my class; Sponsor's Pick, 2nd in my class and best engine out of over 300. I have a CobraJet 460 (486 hp) completely polished and chromed. I have had many parts custom fabricated out of stainless. I had a edelbrook 750 that did not do the job. I placed a Holly Street Avenger 870 with great results. Some extras include fire system, Stainless exhaust. I am now fabricating a cover for my steering column and new dash. I am working with my fab. company to sell some of the items that are on my engine and car. Darren

Let us know what products you will offer, when you are ready.

A good friend of mine and I are making a custom dash insert/replacement, and shift knobs (one cobra-profile like ball, and one fighter stick type) out of Padouk (African exotic) wood, to match the dash on my new West Coast. We possibly will offer these for sale, in several types of wood, for the West Coast cobra. Price will depend on type of wood, and time to make each set. We may offer the shift knobs seperately.

I will post pics when the dash is ready, and then when it is installed, also.

By all means, let us know if you guys plan to market some of your upgrades. Not often that I can find a part custom made for a West Coast!

Darren, tell me more about your Edelbrock vs. Holley Street Avenger experience. I have a 514 and did exactly the same thing.....only I changed before I ever fired the beast. Haven't got it on the road yet, so interested in your experience and perspective.

One thing for sure.....that Holley outweighs the Edelbrock by about double!

Darren,

One more question....did you buy your car as a turnkey from Vern? Was it painted by LA Collision in Windsor? If so, what's your opinion of the quality and value? I'm close to needing a painter and am still considering LA.

The edelbrook was always starving. I had a engine builder dyno and try to get the most out of it, but it was not enough. Not enough fuel and air would make it to the engine. After the Holly was installed the car became a monster. It feels about 20% faster and more responsive.
--I had Vern build my car. It came out great. I am not sure who painted it. I did have it color sanded and polished. It looks awsome. Darren

I too have a West Coast and I am more than satisfied with what I got for the price. Of all the kits I considered at the time. this one was the most complete (back in 1995/6). Poking around junk yards looking for donor parts did not interest me, however I did want to perform a majority of the assembly tasks. I purchased "Phases I & II" back in '96 and Phases III & IV" in early '99. I built the motor myself and know every fastener on the car. I will be headed to paint/body shop (The one Vern recommends) next week. I am looking forward to winning my first trophy with "My" Cobra that "I" built. I'm sure I would do better next time and perhaps do things a little different. I've said it in other posts and I'll say it again, when buying any Cobra, kit or original, you get the "Cobra Legend" too! In terms of what I could afford and my mechanical skills this kit was the right one for me.

Just a side note: Please provide any/all info regarding the Paint/Body shop Vern recommends. . . I understand that they have done several bodies from this set of molds and really do nice work! Can anyone comfirm this?

And ask Vern who did my paint. It turned out great, except that on delivery the soft clearcoat had a lot of spiderwebs which Vern buffed out on site. The titanium ghost stripe is awesome ! I cannot leave it anywhere without it drawing a crowd.. yesterday it was two pretty young ladies waiting for me when I returned to the parking lot.. one of them loves cobras so much she said she even named her baseball bat "Shelby" This sure is fun

514 CI SVO with Holley electronic fuel injection, Richmond Over Drive 6 speed, and every accessory I could think of. So it is about as "rigid" as cobra replica frames come, especially when you consider it is designed for a BB. The handling is great and it really sticks to the tarmac with my low profile Pirellis.

Didn't answer my question. Just about every Cobra replica chassis out there is more than rigid enough.

The West Coast Cobra uses a rigid space frame?

Their frame is not a two-dimensional as some other cobra chassis, but it lacks the triangulation and doesn't have sufficient frame members in the Z-axis to be called a "spaceframe" in my book.

The frame on the West Coast Cobra is called a backbone frame. Chassis Engineering by Herb Adams chapter 12 frame design page 91 will explain the design better than I ever could.

I was at DVSF III and met a guy who is a car builder. He has a West Coast that he is finishing for a guy who came down with cancer. I have seen the pics and he did a great job. The car is just waiting for paint right now....The guy would like to offer it in the buyers choice of color...but someone needs to move on this sooner than later...or he will paint it and then try go sell it.

Yeah, those long wheel base Cobras just aren't right........but they are comfortable. Not that I would drive one mind you,,,,,I got two. LOL
