I have seen a few ads for relatively inexpensive Shelby American Cobra replica complete (under $25K). They seem to have been assembled in the early 90's.

Are these the same "Shelby American" Cobras as currently sold by Carrol Shelby?

It's highly unlikely, Jim.

Many people advertise their replicas for sale as: "Cobra", "Shelby Cobra", etc. and they are in fact some type of replicar. I have found some sellers who do not know which actual kit they have, since they bought it as a 'Cobra'.

If it is a true SAI car, it will carry a CSX-Vin number.

...that pretty much rules out an SAI car, I believe.
