I've been a lurker on this forum for quite some time. I recently purchased a Superformance MkIII, which has been my car of choice since my father purchased one in 2005.
Not only has Ron at Firefly been a friend of mine for several years, but he's also a great builder of custom, stainless steel, side pipes. This past weekend he and I installed a shiny, spanking new, set of pipes, and his "drive shaft containment device" on my one week old (to me, anyway) SPF Cobra.
All I can say is WOW! The pipes completely change the look of the car over the dull, ceramic coated, OEM, SPF pipes. It's like hanging a pair of 2kt diamond ear rings next to the face of a beautiful woman.
Not only are the beautiful aesthetically, but sonically as well. Before, the car was quiet, now she has the growl that a Cobra should. She sounds as mean as she looks. Everyone knows you're coming...and when the throttle hits the floor it's a symphony of 8 cylinder music.
The only problem I see is that my formally quiet little Cobra no longer fools the Vettes.
In addition to the pipes, we also installed Ron's "drive shaft containment unit". The unit is a breeze to install, because it uses the existing mounting holes for the trans mount and the OEM drive shaft loop. The Firefly unit relocates the OEM loop forward to cover the front yoke. Additionally, two more loops are added, which almost completely contain the short drive shaft. Finally, the Firefly unit is designed to allow you to service your drive shaft without complete removal.
Anyway, I thought I would give mention to a couple products that give me piece of mind, and put an even bigger smile on my face every time I drive my car.
