Thumbs up FuelSafe (fuel cells)

This is a first-rate mfg. of fuel cells. My built-in fuel cell bladder was chunking apart (after 20 years-go figure), and I knew absolutely nothing about them. Called FuelSafe directly [www.fuelsafe.com 800-433-6524] and talked to Jack in their custom setups department. Because mine was built in, Jack took me through the process of taking the appropriate measurements and taking the plate off so they could install it on the new bladder. They built it perfectly! Dropped right in and bolted up like it was supposed to. Great tech support and perfect fabrication.

Jamo (very happy customer)

We buy all our cells from Fuel Safe. Frankly, I can't figure out how they do custom tanks so cheaply! Never disappointed.

Wink

Sure am glad some smart son-of-a gun recommended them to me. My cost was a little over $500 (my plate, though)--AMAZING!

Default full bladdrs....gotta go!!!

The interior foam should be replaced every few years.

20 years on the same bladder is a lot! Usually 10-12 years is about it.

Either Fuel Safe or ATL have FIA FT3/5 approved bladder and can systems and both are nice people. They both now have (and Fuel safe has had for 2 years) an FIA FT3 rated less expensive plastic bladder/steel can.

Sidelightem.....there is a big difference betewwen these units and the blow molded pieces with the bail handle cap made by JAZ and others. Visually if the unit has a fill plate with cap/fill tube /flapper/and a inlet and vent with one way valve on the fill plate then youve got the real deal.......there is not adaquate protection in high impact or rollover situations with the blowmolded/non fill plate pieces.

Actually loudpedal--I have discovered that the various sanctioning bodies (SCCA, NHRA, etc.) limit them to 5 years.

What is the cost of a custom replacement bladder vs the cost of a new custom cell? I have a custom cell but the company went out of business. The bladder is sleaking, but the tank is only 10 gallons. Not certain if I want to go the distance and get a bigger tank.

Suggestions?

It's usually cheaper to use a "standard" tank than have one (even if it's just a bladder) custom-made, but tank sizes are fairly standard. Get a catalog and compare.

I wound up shipping my tank to Fuel Safe and getting a replacement bladder. They also replaced my float type gas tank level sending unit with a solid state one. Totally professional company and the new bladder comes with at 10 year warranty (I think). The total cost for the bladder and sender was about $750.
