Default Airborne Coatings warning

For those of you who have emailed me asking for an update on my pipes and problems with Airborne Coatings, here it is.

Quick recap, drove my pipes 2 1/2 hours one way , wrapped in blankets to airborne coatings to avoid any possible damage. Total 10 hours driving back and forth. Received the pipes with 1 dent, 1 gouge and numerous runs.

Contacted airborne coatings and they had the pipes picked up. I had to pay the 20 dollars for shipping supplies. The apologized for the problem and told me they would fill the dent , remove the coating and redo the pipes.

Well, I just got the pipes back this Friday. The good news it there are no runs in the pipes. They fixed the dent, although not a great fix. The bad news - First I open the box and there was water flooded in one pipes

now the pipes are worse than before. They dented the other pipe

http://www.creeperscobra.com/airborn...s/DSCN0012.JPG) ,

5 gouges ( several only inches from the previous dent)

and NUMEROUS scratches. The longest being a little over 5 1/2 inches.
And finally, the pipes were far more shiny the first time around, they are actually dull now is some parts SIGH.........

I can tell you I am more than a little ticked at Airborne Coatings. My cost so far is 397.50 for a far sub par job, $20 in additional shipping cost, and several tanks of gas. $417.50 not including the gas.

I thought about protesting the charges on my credit card until this is fixed, BUT that would mean I would have to incur more shipping costs. Hope they come back in good shape, which their record shows so far that you get them back worse then you sent them. I guess I?ll try and bang out the dent and buff the gouges to see if I can make them better.

IF you were considering Airborne Coatings I would suggest you give one of the other companies a try. Airborne?s quality control seems to be lacking. You?d figure they?d take extra care on my pipes the second time around. Sadly , that doesn't seem the case.

I feel for you. I would think they should refund you some money if not all for your trouble and their ability not to achieve 100% customer satisfaction.

I wish you luck.

I would demand a refund and block payment on my card if I was you. Not at all acceptable.

Final update. Airborne passes the buck and tells me it's UPS's fault and to make a claim with UPS. UPS denies claim as there was no damage to the box. I can't blame UPS as it was clearly not shipping damage as me and my UPS guy examined the box together upon arrival. Airborne wouldn't even comment when I told them one of the gouges had polishing compound in it. Just repeating for me to take it up with UPS and if UPS will pay they will redo the pipes.

Sad, sad customer service.

Thumbs down Horrible Service

Creeper,

Based on your posts, that is unacceptable service. Have other people had the same luck with Airborne or is yours an isolated instance?

I have used AirBorn Coatings for the primaries, side exhaust system, and heat shields. Turn time on the order was two weeks. Since I live 20 min from their East Hartford CT location I was able to deliver the parts and did not have to be concerned about packing and shipping.

Did not have any quality issues on the coating and the parts were not damaged or dented. The shop appeared to be very busy and there were a number of parts of all types in process.

It was mentioned that AirBorn does the work for ERA including the powder coating of the frame and other compoents. ERA is located about 20 min south from the East Hartford location.
