Experience has taught me never to get anything sent into Canada from the US by courrier. The stuff sits for days (sometimes weeks) in Canada Customs and the clearing costs can be rediculous.
The best thing to do is to get a US address, a friend or even a post office box down there will do. Get your parts sent there then pick them up and bring them through customs yourself. I have found that it works very well and no time is wasted. You can even fill your car up with cheap American gas while you are there.

Wayne/Petek
Hey Guy's....first for Wayne...I bought all my parts for the Cobra threw the internet...without problems....most of the stuff came by UPS...and the rest by mail....customs is usually fast...you know they want there money!
Hey PeteK! I got the third post bracket for the roll bar today...George forgot to ship it with the Roll bar ...and guess what...it was shiped by AIR MAIL. Well lets just say I have better faith in that George has shiped the parts this time. Just a matter of when they get here!

snakes roll bar
Snake the roll bar bracket left two days after the roll bar!!! I guess they weren't interested in that $10.00 bracket. However that shinnie "U" shaped thing most likely got someones attention! George

Well Hi There Geroge!
Hi Geroge! Well I hope your wrong about that...and hope to see it soon....since the bracket left 2 days after...doesn't really mean a thing....since it was shiped by air....the rest of the parts...how ever were shiped standard mail...and may take some time.
Snake/Gerry.
George...What size hole should I cut for the roll Bar, so it will fit in the body of the Cobra?

Ken
Yes, I guess I am. A town like Champlain, NY has more mail boxes in the local post office than it has people in the town.
Snake
I bought parts for my Cobra from all over the US. I had everything shipped to a friend's place of business so I would pick the parts up on the weekend when I would be in the US anyway, then bring them back myself. I declared everything but made sure I stayed below my allowable limit, this way I saved all taxes, duties, and fees. All I paid was the actual cost of the parts. This technique worked well for me.

Roll Bar
Snake glad to see that you final got something!!!! #1 All first class mail goes by air. #2 I'm glad this postmaster new the in & outs of international mailing. #3 you FORGOT to mention the " TWO-2 " sets of headers that were mailed to you. #4 When you called the last time if you would of asked for the roll bar in lue of still another set of headers you could of gotten it without all the fuss. #5 As the postmaster says anytime the declaired value and insured value don't match you're asking for trouble. Sooner or later the custom folks get wise and it cost someone and that was me. I might as well taken that money and thrown it out the window. #6 You notice when things were done on the up and up you got your stuff- should tell you something!!!! George

Nice Try George...But not this time!!
First of all there's nothing wrong with sending the parts for what there worth...in raw material form!
Second if they were shiped at all....with out a tracking number, there's now way to trace the package.
Third if you sent two sets of headers.....after the first one got lost.....thats an indication to send the other with a tracking number. So there is NO misunderstanding where the package went. If I had received the headers the first time....I would have told you!!! I bought a set from Jack21....and he's had no problem sending them to me...also the rad I bought from him. Also the firewall I bought from Eric in Califoria for $250.00 US.....and how about the frame from ND...for $300.00 U.S. and the Body for $1500.00 U.S....I could go on....but I think you get the point!! I bought easy over 80 parts threw the net...with a few lost items...but they were insured....so nobody lost.
When I called you the last time...I didn't buy the headers yet from jack21.
I'd like to know what you mean by putting up a fuss....I think waiting for headers for a year....is way out of line!!! Having to call you at home so many times..was imbearacing, I have better thing to do....I had to ask the phone company for a record of the calls to your house and work, so not to get lost in how many times I call....not counting the e-mails.....I won't even get into that.
Now your postmaster...I could understand if your sending stainless steel...as of veiwing the roll bar it is a piece of work, and well worth the insurance...as for the customes...they don't have a listing for AC Cobra headers....it's either raw metal, mufler or part of an exhaust system...but for custom made parts...it could be put under raw steel, and be put at a lesser value.
How is that the info you told me is the same as many others that were waiting for parts....Sent to Florida by mistake? The girl that ships is sick? The parts have been sent? Seems to be the same thing you told Don and a few others?
Now about money lost....well lets see a years waiting, phone bills, the interest on the money for a year. Headack pills..that's a joke. Here is another question...I sent you $128.00 U.S. for the shipping and, it only cost you $37.25 U.S. for the postage?
Now if your suggestion that I'm a crook...I've got over a hundered people that I have....sent money in advance for items....and having to put my trust in them, that they would get my item sent to me, in a reasonabule amount of time.
It's all a matter of business and trust....that's it! If I pay for my parts in advance, who has the chance of getting ripped off...It's a matter of Trust!!
Snake/Gerry.
P.S. My honisty speaks for itself....ask anybody I've delt with!

Business in general
snake Lets clear up a few things #1 This business is a small custom production shop that employs one person full time + (ME), two other people on an as needed bases. WE do regular production run of special cobra and gt40 parts for Manf. and dist. I try too cordinate these runs to go in 3 month cycles, sometimes things go good! and I can work a few small jobs in around 30 sets of side louvers, or 50 turkey pans ( can do 8 a day start to finish ) Or bumber loops, etc. ect. One offs jobs such as yours account for less than 20% of the business and take up 75% of the phone and run around time. Why do these ? When I built my first car I wanted it to be just so . I went to a lot of shops in an effort to get what I wanted made. What I got was junk not worth hauling home ,at a big price. I remember the feeling and offer my services to a select few so they can have it long , wider , taller , made out of a different meteral, shiner, different dia. with ribs, with slots, louvers facing forword or backwards loud , quiet etc. ect. But these jobs because of there nature don't make money> They do challenge my abilities and give me customer interaction, some good some bad. When ever possiable they get lumped in with production runs of simarler parts. which is why some times you get it right away, and sometimes it may be months. But you aways get it. When I give an estimate of time its a good faith est. I don't know when one of the regulars will call wanting another run , and I'm sorry but their "PRODUCTION" runs are what pays the bills, not the one offs. Will finish this tonight, got to take the kids to school! George

The best part about this whole thread is that I don't even have a clue who you guys are talking about!
If you had followed the simple guidelines of the forum, most folks would have a better picture of what the problem is and with who.
Forum Guidelines:
http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/show...885#post135885
And three different threads devoted to this topic???????
