Exclamation Jet Hot Coat or Ceramic Coat????

My sidepipes need stripping and re-coating. One guy is really stressing to do Jet Hot Coat. I have heard others say Ceramic Coat if fine. The only issue is.....with Jet Hot Coat it is only in "silver" I think...and I would rather have the pipes in black thought not that big of a deal. Anyone available to help my head scratching ????thx !! GARY:

Jet Hot is ceramic coating, and it's available in all kinds of colors. Jet Hot pioneered the process, but there are plenty of local area shops that do an equally good job these days. The advantage of local coaters is you can hand-deliver headers and/or sidepipes without fear of shipping damage.

My sidepipes were originally Jet Hot coated in black, but after 5 years, I had them done locally in silver.....same process.

Gary,

The absolute best coating you'll get is HPC's, however, naturally they are also the most expensive, you get what you pay for. I've had all three so at least I can speak from experience towards that claim. HPC on my first car, Jet Hot on my Superformance, and the local guy did my headers.

For my money in the future only HPC will be coating my "stuff". Enjoy!

Are your pipes currently ceramic coated? If yes, you'll need them chemically stripped to redo - typical rates are about $1.50 per pound for the process not including shipping and then you off to the coaters. The reason why is with ceramic on the pipes the new coating won't adhere and they can't warranty the application. Regarding color, I believe you'll find that the super high temp "formula's" (1300 degrees+) are only available in Silver from both Jethot and HPC - check into it.

Best of luck.
