Default Moroso: truth in advertising?

I recently had the engine out of my cobra and decided to upgrade to a roadrace oilpan. The milodon pan that I ordered never was in stock at summit, so, I switched to a moroso pan. Their claim of pressure testing oilpans before they leave the factory was put to the test......and failed.

It took me about 24 hours of checking to find the persistent oil leak was coming from a weld above the level of the oil. As the engine was running it would bubble out a small pinhole. Rather than pull the pan and send it back I took some JB weld and repaired the pinhole (about the diameter of a toothpick).

Then, I called to see what they might offer in the way of an explanation. After all their own literature claims they pressure test the pan, and since mine has a pinhole it should never have left QC. I figured they might offer me a credit or something for my trouble with their defective POS or, at least an apology.

The person who I spoke with at the factory said that the oilpans were pressure tested at the factory, and he could not understand how this could have happened! I asked if he would like to come and pull the pan himself to see the "miracle" in person, but he declined. He did offer that maybe they should "look into that in the future". Not ever once did he acknowledge that because of moroso,s inability the do the right thing, a customer who paid full price was sent defective merchandise and considerably inconvenieced.

You'd think that at least they would send you a new pan. Maybe you should take it up with Summitt, they might have more clout with Moroso and get you some satisfaction. Alternatively, VISA could probably get Summitt on the move if you were so inclined, but I imagine these alternatives would have you returning the defective part and getting a new one sent to you. Not what you had in mind after an engine install....
