The bolt heads on the side of the block means crossbolted which is good. On one side (left I think) it has socket screws just above the bolts plugging the oilways. If Bob offers his car for comparison that is the benchmark Contemporary, go see it, talk to him, and take notes.

I think it would be a good idea for you to make sure that when you drive it, you get it up to 80+ mph and keep it there long enough to get a feel for the car, i.e. after the excitement of driving it wears off just a little so that you can allow your reasoned judgement to return. Check to see how it feels at that speed; can you feel any shakes in the steering column, seat of your pants, etc. Fixing "at speed" problems can be tricky to diagnose and expensive to fix...

thanks for the tip ... i'm a little used to wrench ...so , correct me if i'm wrong, if there are problems...they can be solved ..... i mean, if all suspension components , alignment, tires, and steering devices are in good shape in a not previous "wrecked" car... it must perform as they ever had it in mind building it new , no ?
I hope ( do not know ) that those Contemporary Cobras do perform ( in as new condition) as they should do ......... As we say here, buying a second hand is in most cases buying somebody elses problem... if you can solve it... that's just great !
PS Hobbying my cars is mostly more working on them then driving... but , hey, that's me

I would agree that problems can be solved; the question is at what cost and nuisance? Who knows how much it is has been driven lately, overall?
My main point is: be sure to drive it pretty hard on the test drive; and drive it long enough to make sure you get a feel for it. Anything you miss on the test drive, you will find right after you buy it on the drive home.

agree fully.... as you mean... which is often the case... the belonging is greater then the "having" it... for me a test drive is to feel the car , what's wrong with it ( yes, i do expect some of this ) ...and negotiate a "fair" price.... at that point i feel good and... hope to resolve the "problems"... some kind of adventure... hobbying into the nights.... let me assure you, it's not my first... and let's hope, not my last.....

Actually old Wafflehead here is pretty good when it comes to working on cars.
Here is a like to a thread about his work on his Porsche 928 race car.
http://www.vtcoa.com/forums/showthre...hlight=porsche
It's in the offensive forum, so you may not want to open it at work.

pretty good .... i tryed last year IDA48s on a 928 engine but didn't got it smooth running ( dead spots ) .... was even searching Cobra & GT forums about Weber tuning.... problem was there are no sets venturis and jets in Belgium... had to buy every set... so back to injection....
had some pics posted in the Weber tuning thread about air filters

Hello.
I found this thread from the beginning of the year, about this particular Cobra. Norbert, I bring it up again because I'm very curious how things went, what became of the test-drive, and what your conclusions were.
Regards, John.
