Jegs price for new assembled heads @$1500.00., about $1200 bare heads. I would jump on these quick ! If that's not in budget, tell him the situation and make an offer.

Not my side of the build and none of my business what or where Doug gets his heads, so I may have got on the fence here. I called the gentlemen and left him my number since I have no idea when Doug is going to see this. Thought I would give the guy a heads up that maybe Doug was going to call and just touched on the circumstances.

ANYBODY else here have a comment/s on these heads? Not being a pro on FE's it sure looks to me like they have been done right?

Jeez, Ed! Like you haven't already done way way more than anyone could ever possibly dream of? I still need to get some heads, that's for sure. Gasket kit I have, pulleys I'll need to buy along with alternator brackets, oil cooler I have, lines I think someone said they had and were going to send. If not I need to buy them to.

Ed, we all have our hot buttons on these cars, and for me it's trying to make it look as original as possible. Of course with the Contemporary, there are some limitations, specifically in the suspension as it has Jag front and rear. Not much we can do about that. I bought the Fluidyne radiator, and Nick made some custom supports so that the radiator can be laid back at the "proper" angle and have aluminum baffling as original around the sides and top and bottom of the radiator and the oil cooler as well. I believe I have all the original Lucas type switches for the instrument panel to go with the correct type Smiths gauges, and of course I would like to put all the gauges, switches and indicator lights in the proper positions. I believe that I have all that stuff, it's just a matter of getting it all hooked up. The wiring harness comes with a GM type light switch, I have a Lucas toggle to use for the lights as original, I am not sure how to wire that, hopefully you do! I know I need to put a relay on the light circuit, I have to buy that but they're fairly inexpensive. When that time comes I'll order it from Ron Francis and have it drop shipped to your place. I was hoping to put an aluminum trunk kit in the car but that'll have to wait, it's way too much work to get into now. The rest is just as close to original as we can get it working of course within the limitations of the fact that it's a Contemporary and not a Kirkham!

I remember what you did with Cap't Eddies build, I read that one every day! Looking forward to a build thread like that on most days would be awesome. Those heads belong to a very nice gentleman named Jase. I spoke with him about them a while back but just didn't feel that the time was right for me to jump on them. I'm just so nervous about using a huge chunk of whats left from the fund so early before the build gets started. There's already a $1275 chunk gone with transport, $1000 from NY to NH, and another $275for the trailer, plus I need to cover Ricks expenses, obviously. I don't want to get into a position where I owe wonderful folks money for work already done. I think the heads will have to wait until a no brainer deal comes along. Does that make sense to you guys? I want to make sure I'm thinking clearly here.

Can you believe what Rick is doing to get this project moving along? He's all the way in NJ, yet he's got up in the wee hours of the morning, drove all the way through NJ, got a good way into PA, had the truck break and muscled a broken truck all the way back to NJ. Now on the 15th of November he's planning to do it all over again, all out of an incredible sense of decency and generosity. Guys, Rick's just an amazing guy, and like DV and Doug and Ed and so many countless others I can never thank him enough. I'm still just bowled over by what they and all off you have done and are doing. I can't tell you how on the very worst of days going through this what you guys are doing keeps me going. Thank you, thank you, a million thank yous to all of you!

With fall ending and the winter months just head for you guys in the upper east and across the midwest, I would think there would be a bunch of idle trailers just sitting where a few of you could drive a couple 100 miles and get his car over to Ed. Spending that much of his fund to transport the car could go a long way in finishing it..... Just a thought!

You guys are great, thanks to you guys for all of the time you are putting in to make this happen. I wish (like I am sure many others) that I was in the vicinity to help lighten the load a bit on you guys.

Thanks, Jay - I appreciate the kind thoughts. This is going to start happening soon and I can't wait. It seems that all the parts have been assembled to make it happen with just two exceptions, only a set of Edelbrock heads and an emergency brake handle and cable are missing. Once I have the parts located and bought we're good to go! Ed "DV" Combs, DCDoug, Rick Lake, and Cobra Ed got this thing organized, so many incredible guys have stepped up with parts and funding - I don't know how to begin to thank everyone. The first time I fire this thing up is going to be a very emotional and significant day. I'm going to fight like heck to make sure that when the car is ready that I'm healthy enough to get there and drive the darned thing. Hey, DV - have mercy on this sick old boy and please don't finish it until it's warm enough to drive up your way!

767 Jockey Ok the long vacation is over. Time to get back in the Gym. I have to talk to Ed tonight, I think to save money I will be driving to Mi. It doesnn't make any sense to burn up all that money for a rental truck and trailer. Have to get a Sat swap. Could leave Friday night and catch Ed's by Sat night. 580 miles, It's not that bad. I will talk to you over the week Rick.

Your call of course and it's not like I love the 800 mile (Round trip for me) in 24 hrs, BUT.... I already paid the guy for the trailer thinking we were going to use it one way or the other. He already confirmed the trailer for our little delay.

767 JOCKEY Doug, talked to Ed and trying to save some money. I'm driving your car out to Mi. Should be there tomorrow night if all goes well. Ed would have had to do a double trip plus rent of the trailer. Weather looks great, hoping for hot shower at Ed's. Mapquest has 855 miles. It may be quicker to go 80 and pay the tolls. Have to check. ED I will call you in the evening before I leave. Rick L.

Hi Doug,

This is just to let you know I have just purchased all the tickets for next year's Goodwood Revival weekend for you and I, including front row seats in the startline grandstand.
All you have to do is get better and get over to the UK next September and I'll pick up the rest from there. You and I will drive the Cobra down to Goodwood (about 150 miles) and my wife will take our caravan for us to stay in at the circuit for the weekend.
The Goodwood Revival is probably the greatest classic motorsport event anywhere in the world and I guarantee, you'll have an absolute ball.
I can't wait.

Wow, Rick - That's awesome. Are you sure you're up to that? Guys, I still can't believe that this is happening. If you all were me, what would you say besides the never ending list of thank you's? I have no words to express my amazement, gratitude and thanks. I am so appreciative of all that is being done, I simply have run out of words to express it. Can you believe this? Paul, that's so cool, you have no idea how much I'm looking forward to this. Now all I have to do is fight to make sure I'm healthy enough to make it. I will do anything in my power to be thee, you can't believe how much I want to make it there. Goodwood has always been one of the things I want to do in my life, along with a trip to Yellowstone, Bonneville and the Reno Air races. Hopefully I can keep this a wish list and not a bucket list. Either way, it looks like the Goodwood part of the list is in good hands, and Paul, I can't thank you enough. I can't beieve that all of this is happening. Wow.
