Default Cobra Completion Fundraiser for 767Jockey

2/6/2012 . . . . **THIS IS STILL AN ACTIVE INITIATIVE**

As many of you are aware, 767Jockey (Doug) has fallen on some hard times. One major issue he is dealing with is his recent cancer diagnosis. As a result of his new medical bills, his life-long dream to build a Cobra is now in jeopardy (he’s been working on it for a few years and it’s about 65% complete, but he was going to have to abandon finishing it).

See the attached thread for details:

My Cobra dream is over - half finished Contemporary high end build for sale - Club Cobra

As per this post, the Club Cobra community is striving to help him in the completion of his half finished Cobra and help him realize a dream. We will be asking Doug to provide us here with a list of parts that are still needed. Members can then purchase these parts for Doug as they wish. We will need Doug to coordinate and update the list as necessary. For those who would prefer to send money directly to Doug, your voluntary donation to his newly established PayPal account will help to make the completion of his car a reality.

Here are the PayPal details:

767Jockey @ gmail.com

Remove the spaces before and after the "@" when you use it in PayPal. These were added to cut down on spam. This is a new email and PayPal account just for this purpose, so emailing Doug at this address isn't going to get a response.

If you wish to mail him a check, or if you have any questions, send a PM to dcdoug here on Club Cobra for more information.

This is a completely voluntary effort. The feeling is that Club Cobra is a world-wide family sharing a common passion and helping a member in need is a worthwhile effort.

Statistics and inventory of the parts and on the number of contributors, and total amount contributed will be posted periodically. Names of contributors will not be posted. We will also try to post pictures when the completion build gets underway.

UPDATE: As of 8/20/2010, $2,855 has been raised from 28 donors
UPDATE: As of 8/31/2010, $3,522 has been raised from 36 donors
UPDATE: As of 11/19/2010, $4,338 has been raised
UPDATE: As of 1/1/2011, $4,638 has been raised

At one point there was discussion regarding raffling off an FE motor.....any plans on doing so?

Cheers from Dugly

I think there are currently some bids to buy the motor outright that Doug is considering first. The administration of a raffle could also get pretty messy, so that is a consideration too.

I've got a set of the polished LeMans valve covers or a set of the Chrome Pentroofs with the 427 emblems on them. Let me know which and where to send.

I'll keep an eye on the other stuff around here.

If your doing a turkey pan, I've got the chrome filter housing with a K&N that can go as well.

Wow, thanks so much! I sent you a PM about the valve covers. That would be terrific, thanks!

Jim,
Thanks! I'm not sure what diameter and depth pulleys need to be used, if they're matched sets, or how that all works. Can anyone out there chime in on this? Thanks so much!

Im In!
Can I have the details on all the master cylinders and braided lines?
Bore Sizes and style. Are they Girling type M/Cs?
I would guess the lines are -3, I need to know the lengths and what fittings are needed.

Thanks

Jason

What exactly do you need for the emergency brake? Do you have the small calipers and brass fork? I have a complete setup I just took out of my car. I also have the cable setup for Contemporary as per the instruction manual. It has a few broken strands on the cable but should work fine. I also have an FE goosneck breather for the intake unless you are going to run PVC to your breathers.

I have a spare OEM oil dipstick and tube. I also have a spare OEM timing pointer and screws but it's for the early C3 cover. I think it'll fit the later C8 cover as well.

Also have a nice aluminum rear breather cover w/pvc valve. It has the rubber grommet and push in PVC. I polished it. It's from Nick @ Acton. I don't have breather basket for the intake sorry. If you can use it I'll send it along. Not sure of you need a solid cover or one with a PVC.

Just let me know where to send them.

Edit to add........if you let me know what color the engine is going to be (black I'll assume?) I'll clean and paint the parts before I send them. I'll also see what else I have around I can send.

FFR, Thats wonderful, thanks so much. Not sure where to send these things yet......but the dipstick and tube, timing cover and pinter, and the PCV plate would be a tremendous help. Thanks so much. The engine is going to be black, you guessed correctly. I really appreciate all of this from you and from all the others.

What harmonic balencer are you using? Are you using a stock Autolite alternator?

Jim,
I don't have a harmonic balancer. I was going to run to a scrapyard, ebay or craifgslist and see what I cold pick up cheaply. Anyone out there have any idea if there is a stock type balancer that works OK? As far as the alternator, the car is wired for an original type external regulator alternator.

Hi, Rich. I have an emergency brake handle boot, that's about it. I need to source everything else. The rear calipers are Jag Series II Girlings. I need the handle, the cable and any sort of hardware that connects to the steel e-brake caliper levers in the back. If you have something that'll work that would be wonderful. Thanks!

Who is doing the engine?

I have and will give a complete FE ( 360 ) to a machine shop.

It is almost complete. But for all intensive purposes, it could easily be punched to 406 - 428 slugs. The heads are truck smog style, but I can toss in a set of 6040s.

Here is the problem, Either it is going to have to be some place close to Detroit, OR there is going to have to be an effort to get it shipped.

Thumbs up

Doug,

With the permission of Bill Pierce, I've posted a link to this thread over on ffcars.com. I know that there are plenty of true cobra enthusiasts over there that will be more than willing to lend a hand once they find out about this completion thread. As I told you in our last PM, anything I can do to assist, just let me know.

Yours In Fords,

Bill S.

He has a 390 in short block form and the majority of the top end parts, but needs different heads (I think he said the the ones he has have the raised exhaust ports) and needs someone to build it.
