This project just seems to be a little bit more special. Why? I have no idea but I sure am looking forward to it.
I'm sure once 767's Cobra is done "We" will find a way to get it to him. But, I have this inner, almost selfish thought, wishing he could pick up the car here for it's first public viewing AND take his first test drives around this God Given beautiful area! Along the coast of Lake Michigan, some of the State Parks, parked in the white sands with the Lake in the background. Maybe a final moment of pictures with the Cobra AND 767 on the beach with the sunset as background, loading 767's Cobra into the trailer, Ahhh, what a send off!
Just thinking.................. maybe a Convoy of Cobras even

Ed,
I can think of nothing better than coming up and driving the car along the lake shore, along with you and so many others who have made this incredible journey possible. A big ol' party up there would be lots of fun, I would think, no? I'll have to start planning, it's the least I can do as an initial step in a long process of thanking all the incredible guys who have helped fulfill this dream.

Thanks, Jon. James Stern is sending an alternator, but we could probably use the brackets if you have no use for them. I would certainly appreciate that. Thanks very much, I appreciate your generosity!

My good friends at Wilwood http://www.wilwood.com/Index.aspx
have graciously offered to provide the master cylinders and lines for Doug's car.
Do we know the necessary line lengths?
Anybody have a contact at Edelbrock?

WOW! Jason, that's amazing! I don't know what to say. Is there someone there that I can send a message to or call to thank them? As for the lines, I think they'll probably be cut to fit once the masters and reservoir cans are installed. Maybe just rough lengths of line and applicable fittings? DV, what do you think?
I'm amazed at the folks from Wilwood for doing that....wow....thanks so much, Jason. I really appreciate it. I had a less than happy consultation with the Doctors yesterday, this really raised my spirits. Thanks!

DV/Doug, I missed the post from Doug that you wanted me to send the alternator . I will send it on Monday. Maxima Mea Culpa.

Jim,
Thanks so much, and please, no mea culps, I'm so grateful to you for sending it, thank you so much for your generosity. If not for you and everyone else here on Club Cobra, this project would never have come to fruition. Thank you so much!

Guys,
Sorry I have been out of the loop lately. Been in Africa and Mexico on another project.
I didn't know a new thread had been started. You guys move fast!
On the other thread I said Kirkham would take care of the radiator tank for Doug's FE. I need to know which side outlet he needs? Right or left?
We will also donate:
turkey pan
alternator bracket
return spring bracket
carburetor fuel feeds
Did anyone donate the remote oil filter assembly yet? If not, count us in.
Where do we send the loot?
David

David,
Thanks SO much for that list of parts, you guys are incredible. I can't thank you enough. As for the surge tank it's a left output, however because the car is a Contemporary, the tank has to be lowered at least 1" from the stock dimension. I don't know if your beautiful tanks can be lowered. Either way, I want to thank you and the wonderful folks at Kirkham for your kindness and generosity. I really truly appreciate your incredible offer, thanks so much!

WOW! I can't believe you guys, I'm speechless. Believe me, coming from a guy who grew up in New York in a big Italian household, that's saying alot! You guys are incredible, try as I might I will never be able to adequately thank you all. Thank you all SO very much. I'll never forget all the kindness that the Club Cobra family has extended toward me in this very difficult time. Thanks so much to all of you.

As for the project, here's a very quick update. Thanks to the incredible generosity that you've all extended, most of the parts are in place or on the way. The only major part missing is the heads. In speaking with Brent Lykins, who has so generously spent mush time messaging back and forth with me, we've come to the conclusion that to build a bare set of Ford iron heads, or to rebuild a set, would end up with shipping back and forth, all the parts needed, etc, costing just a bit less than buying Edelbrock heads, and the car would be lighter and the reliability of using a new part in such a critical area would be much higher. In short, for such a small cost difference Brent feels, and I agree, that the Edelbrock heads make more sense, so I need to get out there and buy a set of them. That's the last major part needed to get this thing going.
Rick Lake has so generously offered to drive the car in his trailer to Summit Racing in Ohio, where the amazing Ed "DV" Combs will meet him and load the car and parts into his trailer and drive everything up to Pentwater, MI to Ed's place. That's where the "magic" will happen. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the shortblock is good, and the engine turns out to be a good one. Brent has been incredibly generous to offer the labor to build the engine, but I don;t know how I'd get it back and forth to him and back to Ed's place - just the shipping alone would pay for half the price of the heads. I guess I'll play riverboat gambler and throw the dice on the shortblock!
Guys, if I have said it once I have said it a thousand times. I am so incredibly thankful for what you've all dine here. Never in my wildest dreams did something even remotely like this ever even enter my mind. I can't thank you all enough - ever. Hopefully when the car is built and running one day I can have as many as possible in one place for a party and you can all take it for a drive - you each own a piece of this dream becoming a reality. I have seen some incredible Cobras, far nicer cars than this one will ever be. However, I can promise you, none will have the meaning of this one, this car was built by the Club Cobra family, and I am so incredibly grateful to all of you for taking a dream that crashed and taking it airborne once again. In a very dark and troubled time due to my health issues, and all the other things that are going on now, you guys have brought me some hope and happiness, and I can never than you enough for that. Thanks to all of you, this project, once I buy the heads, is about to get moving. Thanks to all of you!
Doug

Does anyone have any sway with Edelbrock or know someone there that can either donate the heads or provide them at cost?

Left, as in driver's side??? Just making sure. We'll make one today for you.
No problem with the lowered tank. We lowered them some time ago.
Do you need the remote oil filter adapter that bolts onto the water pump?
Happy to help.

Thanks, David. The surge tank needs to exit to the drivers side. Also, I don't think I have the oil filter adapter. Thanks so much!
