What hoods fit contemporary?
Anybody know where to find a flat hood for a Contemporary? Will an ERA hood fit? SPF (early style)?
Thanks,
Troy

One of them being mine....took a sawzall to my hood, cut out the scoop (which, believe me, is harder than you think), then gave it to Nick...
this is what I got back.
Came out very nice.

Thanks for sharing. What would something like this cost to do?

I will let Nick work that out with you via PM if he wants, but I can tell you that what he charged me was MORE than reasonable. Worth every penny.
I was able however, to throw the hood in my car and deliver it then pick it up so there were no shipping charges which could get expensive depending on where you are located.

I'll have to look it up but I don't think it was too bad considering the hood is already fitted and hinged to your car versus making a replacement one fit. That is a possibility also of course. There are a few hoods that will fit your car and between a lot of them being similar sizes, shapes and hinge types and they are usually oversized to be trimmed to fit.
You could get a hood for around $450. It might not be worth shipping one two ways to get the hood scoop removed and filled in. Do the numbers and see what you come up with.

Check around in your area - any decent fiberglass man could do that job with ease. Find out who the Vette guys in your neck of the woods go to or look up any boat repair shops nearby. Removing the scoop and glassing in the hole is not a difficult or complex job at all.

Good idea Buzz. However, I've found that fiberglass work is anything but easy - especially if your expectations are show quality. Very few people around here will stand behind their work as soon as they realize it's a fiberglass job.

If you are planning to do all that work you may as well buy one from a reputable manufacturer, fit and paint.
FYI everything I bought from ERA when I had my CCX fit perfect. Just went to Peter P as they were close geographically.
I would hit Midstates, (Central) FFR, ERA (East) or JCF (West coast) as they will have one close. Easy to fit edges and set up. Depends where you live, get what is close to you.
SPF is in far away lands and it may be a journey to get this one.
Benefit would be you would have two hoods........
