Yes, welcome Brian. Don't worry, we're not all insane. Just some

What engine and transmission does your car have, and what are you planning to change to?

Cheers!

Thanks guys for the welcome.........its kind of an interesting story how I acquired this car. Back in the early 90's I had a NAF Cobra and took it to all the shows and cruise nights here in town. it was a 427 SC body but had a hopped up 302 and toploader 4 speed in it. I was at our local A&W cruise night one evening when this bad ass red Contemporary Cobra showed up. It was parked next to me and I was checking it out as I was in love with the red beauty. That's when the photo was taken. Fast forward some 25 years later and come across the car for sale in Fresno. Didn't know it was the same one until we shared some stories and figured it out. The second owner was a friend with Fulton Racing in SC. SO he had sent the car to him years ago by rail and Fulton put in a race 427 Chevy and Muncie 4 speed. he enjoyed it many years but decided he wanted to build a Studebaker so put the Cobra up for sale. I told him I love the car but I was going to HAVE to change the engine. SO within the first month of owning it I located a real Side Oiler 427 and bought it. 28k later the side oiler and my toploader are done and ready to go in soon I hope. It took a while to build the engine and I never thought that I would spend that kind of money on an engine but it sure did come out awesome! I will have to post some photos and maybe a video of it running on my run stand. I will be posting lots of photos here.

Excellent. Out of curiosity, how hard was it to get your QT bellhousing dialed in properly (if you've done that yet)? Over the years, I've heard the QTs line up right almost out of the box, whereas old Lakewoods like mine can be a nightmare.

It lined up perfectly. However I haven't installed the clutch and mated the transmission yet. But so far it looks like it will be no problem.

Good luck with your CCX, she is a beauty. I went to see the Contemporary facility in the early 1980s. At the time I lived in New York and liked the look of the Contemporary and ERA Cobras. It took a while, I eventually acquired an ERA 427. I hope you have many miles/smiles with that Cobra.

I share the same story with my Contemporary. First saw it in the mid 80's when the owner at that time would bring it to my father's Ford Dealership to get serviced. Then i stumbled upon it in a storage facility about a year age where it had been stored for the last 12 to 15 years and ended up buying it.
