Super snake
Anyone know what automatic was used in the super snake cobra? Was it a C-6 are a built up C-4?

This is from an article that I read somewhere.
Carroll Shelby used a Ford C-6 automatic gearbox in his Super Snake Cobras.

No, the transmission used is a "large case MX" as used in Lincolns of that period. A C6 has a cast-in bellhousing, the "MX" series of transmissions use a cast bellhousing that is removable. The "MX" family of transmissions has three members, the "small case" used on Fords and Mercury with smaller engines, the "medium case" used on 58-66 Thunderbirds and Ford/Mercury with larger (generally FE engines) and the "large case" used on Lincolns and trucks.
There is a photo of the transmission next to the Super Snake roller that clearly I.D.s it a "large case MX" (can't find the picture right now)
