For those wanting OEM style bar:
Mickmate fabricated a bar based off measurement I obtained from a good friend who owns a 60's comp CSX. OEM bars are slightly wider than std replica bars and look much better than the early shorty CCX type. CCX later made an optional bar which did fall much closer to original specs, most do not have them.
Installation:
1) Jack car and remove the rear left wheel.
2) At the point where the rear deck, behind seat, meets the inner fender will be the first hole. I used a 1 5/8" hole saw with a centering drill bit. Remember the OEM hoop was centered more than steering wheel.
Action photo compliments of Dave:
3) Drill up underneath as close to the rear deck and inner fender will allow. This will allow mounting position on the outside leg to be direct attached to frame.
4) Once center drill bit goes through body = STOP.
5) Now use the pilot hole for the drilling of the hole from the top. Use high speed and paint will hold up, at least mine did without issue.
6) Once drilled second hole is drilled based upon roll bar width. Remember in the CCX there is a bit of work to be done cutting a slight notch into the rear deck behind seat. Kinds self explainatory once you are there. This step is in the CCX Build manual as well.
7) The inner part of loop will pass down to the trunk floor where another hole needs to be drilled. Then it is down to the rear frame rail.
8) Drill and tap or weld bracket in place where it hits.
9) Set overall hoop height as desired.
10) Now is the tricky part, measure your angle and set the final hole for leg. I measured a dozen times to ensure I would hit frame rail in trunk. I also used a cardboard core as a tail off rear leg to position hole properly before cutting.
11) Cut two holes which overlap and trim oval smooth with Rotozip.
12) If your calulations check the tail should hit the rear frame tube.
13) Mount to frame, now you have a roll bar which is attached to the frame at three points. That = functional.
I will post pics as I trace my steps in the near future.
