Hi Mike, I use the Centroid sender unit. It is electronic with no moving parts so they actually read and work. Can you weld aluminum? Why don't I sell you a tank kit you assemble and leak check.

I own one of these tanks and besides being a work of art the functionality of actually having enough fuel to cruise around is a bonus. Great product.

Hello Nick, I was curios if this sensor would work with the smiths fuel gauge that I had ordered. When I ordered the gauge I got the one for the GM fuel sender that I am currently using. According to Peter, there are a couple of different variations of the smiths gauge depending on which fuel sender will be used.

The original senders are Camaro, that uses 0-90 ohm. That isn't compatible with the Smiths gauges. With a tweak of the guage and a shunt it sort of worked but not really. You can now get Smiths gauges in 0-90 amd 33-240 ohm ranges and you can also get the senders in both values. Whatever you have it can be fixed or made to work.

Thanks Nick. You are a true Craftsman! Those tanks make me drool. I am pretty sure that I got the new 0-90 ohm smiths since peter asked when i got it. We'll talk soon!

- Mike
