1965 Shelby Daytona Coupe for sale
I am interested in buying a Daytona coupe. There is one for
sale at Fast Lane Classic Cars, serial number SPC0026.
I have experience with several types of sports cars, but I have never
had a Daytona Coupe.
Any advice on this specific car is very welcomed.

Thanks for the advice, I will certainly have to try it.
I believe I can fit, since I have and I had Lamborghini Countachs,
and they are hard to get in, out, and inside evertyhing is tight and very,
very hard: the clutch, the steering wheel (no power steering), the gear changes are also very hard, and the seats seem to be made of stone.
After a couple of hours driving it, you are exhausted, but as soon as you leave the car, you want to go back for more pain, such is the attraction of
this car.
I believe that the Daytona will have the same level of attraction

That VIN is for a Superformance "Brock Coupe". It is larger and roomier that the original Daytona Coupes. It is NOT a "Shelby" although the second generation SPF Coupes are now "Shelby Daytona Coupes" and no longer sold via Superformance dealer.
The SPF coupes have power steering, brakes and air con.

a little history
The car at Fast Lane was ordered from Superformance through Reed Performance of Louisiana by keith Williams. The engine is a Keith Craft motor built especially for the car. The install was done by Reed and then sent to Craft in Plano for tuning. the #26 chassis was picked because the car is supposed to be very close to csx2601. One of the best historied coupes. Google csx2601 for the history. It sold at Mecum for 7+ million.
I think that the car has less than 500 miles on it and the longest cruise it was on was about 30 miles. It set in keith's garage forever but was maintained and started regularly by one of Keith's staff.

It's a gimme. Buy it. Great price for a great car.
My wife thinks it's just a Cobra with a hard top. Still working on it though.

I've seen the car in person, and live in St. Louis. I must say the car is flawless and stunning from front to back.
One thing - maybe others on this forum can answer.
The side exhaust is fake. It is really a rear exhaust system. I don't know if all SPF coupes are like that, or this one was specially made like that - I just don't know. Also - I would imagine it would not be too hard to bolt on side pipes for real.

Perhaps encompasing the mufflers in the cutouts within the doors presents a problem with the heat from the exhaust vs the fiberglass?? Just a thought, not sure?

I'm not familiar with this particular car, but I do have SPC0123. From looking at the photos, I can suggest some info you need, and several changes you should make if you buy this coupe. First, find out who the installer was. There are a number of good ones, and at least one not so good one. Make sure you get the owner's manual, knock off hammer, and jack with the car. This car has the stock PS unit, which should be changed to a pump with a remote reservoir (fluid will run much cooler) and a different pulley. If it has the stock fuel pump in the stock location, it needs to be moved to the same level as the bottom of the tank. If it has a Holley Red fuel pump, you should eliminate the fuel regulator - it's not needed and will not operate properly with the 7 psi internally regulated Red pump. You will probably need to change the heater control valve. There are other helpful mods but this isn't a convenient place to describe them.
Finally, there are no external door locks on the early cars, so if a door popper fails (and they do) you have to crawl in through the hatch.
I would also want to know why the owner didn't drive it!
They are a blast to drive (and comfortable, too), and you will never lack for onlookers and questions ...

Coupe side pipes
While writing my earlier message, I missed the most recent ones on the side pipes. They are not fake; the mufflers are real and HOT. A new coupe came with the option of H-pipes (rear exit) or open side pipes (no H pipe). If the H-pipes are installed, they can be easily changed to open side pipes by removing them, blocking the rear exits at the mufflers, and simply cutting away and grinding the blocking plates visible by looking in the side pipes. My car has rear exit pipes, and having ridden in a coupe with open side pipes, I would not recommend them - way too loud in my opinion.

I saw SPC 130 for sale on flee-bay, looked like they might take less than 65K for it -- it is an odd colour - some sort of lambo color, but it could be repainted easily.

I had the priviledge of driving Keith Williams Daytona Coupe and not only is it an extremely well assembled car it also performs very well with its' Keith Craft engine. Keith Williams is a very maticulous individual and I can assure you he has take extremely good care of his ca. Dave Williams of Fastlane Cars (no relation to Keith) is someone you will enjoy doing business with too. I would love to have Keiths Coupe except I have one of my own.

This is my second american car - the first was a Saleen Mustang - but
I believe this is something at a higher and different level.
I have been involved with italian, german and british cars, and I
