Default Header tube size on original coupe

Hi! I recently purchased the glass packs to try and build the exhaust for my scratch build coupe. I was wondering if anyone knows what size primary pipes and secondary pipes was used on the original Daytona Coupes for their exhaust system? Thank you, Mark

I was watching a show the other night about the Daytona and noticed the side pipes looked to be 2".
I'm not sure originally they were all the same though.

Hey! Thanks guys. The glass packs are 2in in and 2in out with 2in core. 3in outside diameter. That is what the plans I am using calls for. It doesn't mention anything about the head pipes. My plan was to use 1 5/8 and 2in tubing. I have spent alot of time looking and searching for pictures these cars and there really is a lot of difference in the 6 cars. One appears to have a lot bigger diameter mufflers with maybe 3 in outlets on them, but the inlets look smaller (CSX 2601). Some of the others look small like what Chuck was using. Thanks again!! Mark

You would have a hard time finding them but CSX-2286 has to this day the 1960 Chrysler Imperial resonators I used as new mufflers. They were the same size, except 3 inches longer than the cans that were on it, before I restored the car. Orginally, they were after the Chrysler mufflers as additional silencing. These cars changed with each owner and restoration, example, CSX-2299 rear spoiler is not orginal. The car was sold to Mike Shoen without a spoiler and he had a friend make what they thought it should be. It is close to what the orginal looked like, but it is different than CSX-2287 and CSX-2300. My suggestion to you is to have 4 made of stainless steel and polished to a SS finish, not chrome like and do the complete header system in SS. Then, if you want them white you can use a high temp paint, the orginals were not painted white, they were coated with a aero-space aluminum oxiide coating that was white.
