Looks like I am going to have to re-think my rear rotors because the ones I had bought will not work on the rear of my IRS suspension. PN 120-6804 is designed for a 1.25" rotor (which I have and will be selling at bargain basement prices) but in order for me to use this set up I would have to get a set of the custom brackets and hats that Larry Goins made for the JBL competition cobra. The problem is that Larry is not in business any more and the new owner Rudick needs to order speciality parts in bulk and one set is not bulk.

In the mean time I have been finishing up the wiring of my front end and gauge placement on my dash. I have pictures but for whatever reason I can't seem to upload them this morning.

I seem to recall, when I was looking for rotors for some reason, I ran across the hats that wilwood made and came to the conclusion they were the same JBL made. The hats on the gray car and black car are differently made, but appear to be the same. Wilwood doesn't make the larger 1 3/8" rotors anymore, but Coleman does btw. Find the dimensions of the hat and see if wilwood makes them or I can measure mine. I'm not sure wilwood makes same calipers anymore either.

I can check with Mat this weekend and see how his hats are made. I think the key is the offset.

Thanks Mark.

Just to get a few things/facts correct here if you do not mind.

1. Larry Goins/Goins Motorsports has never made any brake parts for the JBL. They were all made in CA at the JBL/SKS facilities and the parts were all for the Comp chassis.

2. As we discussed, the touring chassis was designed to use the standard Ford rear brakes with handbrake. I have never designed any rear brake components specifically for the touring chassis. The specified Wilwood front components as well as MC's were sized for this combination.

3. I offered you the original drawings for the Comp Car hats and mounts (for the .81 X 12.19 Inch rotors) that you could have made locally at any proficient machine shop with a lathe and mill. (For too much money of course)

And finally, Rudick (?) is not the new owner of JBL.

Any announcements relative to this subject will be forthcoming at the proper time from the involved principals.

And please post some more photos. Everyone wants to see your work in progress.

Default Rear 1.25" Wilwood rotor

Richard please accept My sincere appologies for any mis-representation of JBL or it's affiliates. As you mentioned to have the hats made one set at a time was extremely cost prohibitive so I am cutting my losses and ordering the smaller diameter rotors and calipers from Wilwood that will fit perfectly. I doubt if I really needed those serious racing calipers on the rear anyway. Also, I have a picture of my Coyote Engine which required a little modification to the JBL Coupe Nose. The engine is HUGE!!!!
However the JBL Coupe is going to be awesome when I get it completed in a few months. I am still having trouble uploading pictures to this site but here is one of my rotors and the bracket I was trying to use with it:

I am actually a little farther along than this including the snorkel and I am re-thinking the degas bottle (Radiator fill Tank). Since this picture was taken I have re-routed my main front wiring harness down the lower frame rails. My front rotors are six piston Wilwoods and the rotors are the .81 dia x 12.19 tall Wilwoods. The have a little surface rust from setting but they are all brand new components.

Looks good Clois, further along than I thought. I had a gal grab me one time and say 'It's HUGE!!!", but not like your engine. Is that your degas tank on the passenger side? How is it plumbed?

Default Jan 15 2016 efforts

Not a lot of progress this weekend except I realized I will need to remake my dash to accomodate my AC unit which needs to mount on the Pass side of the cockpit. Did manage to weld up my battery box and complete some wiring under the dash.

If you can see the space limitations for an AC unit you will know what I am dealing with the AC Unit. I will be remaking the dash to allow for a bump out on the passenger side to accomodate the ac unit and it's vents. You really need some air movement in an enclosed car especially AC/Heat/ and defroster. You may need to check my gallery because I can't seem to get these to attach.

Clois,

That is going to be some Coupe when you get it finished. What horsepower will you get from that engine if you don't mind?

expecting about 412 at the wheels without much effort. I will be happy with a little less since I can rarely use all the hp on a track much less in the city. Only once have I ever ran out of horsepower and that was at Texas World Raceway coming into turn one at about 140 or so in my other coupe. We had a very strong headwind too.

Thanks for the answer. That should be enough power as the Coupe is much more aerodynamic than the roadsters. I only get about 390 at my rear wheels and I have never ran out of power, but out track doesn't have long straights either.

Mark or Mat do these look like your rear mounting brackets:

I think that would work. Two holes at the front, one at the rear appears to be what mine look like. You'll have to pull the hub out of the upright to attach the plate it appears.

Disregard the brake dust in the pic, that is an illusion.

Clois, we need to get your stuff done, Dean get his wide body GT40 done, and everybody including Mat with his coupe, and I'll bring my pullrod JBL and all meet at Hallet. That should be a fun time! Kind of retro 60's bash.
