Not an issue with the Coyote. True for solid lifter cam, you need ZDDP but roller cam motors don't. Ford knows what works and these come with synthetic from the get go. No worries on break in or down the road. As said, this is no longer the sixties. A friends Boss 302 race car wiped a cam at Watkins in less than 20 miles. He replaced the solid with a roller lifter and gained power as well as no issues with oiling.

Thanks Cashburn. I guess I'm still a little in the old school. And no, I don't have a SFT engine (anymore).! Yes, I have seen the same thing twice and both changed to rollers. No hope for Patrick though!

Not sure where I strayed there, but sorry if I offended someone. Just a poke at PatrickT about his SFT setup.

Dean Lampe and I both had 427 engines built by a guy who had a great reputation with FE engines. They were both run in by him we thought however the truth was his young "interns actually built our engines and ran them in with standard Valvoline 2 w 50. We took deliver the night before we were to go to a race (basically just enough time to get them installed). Both engines granaded within 10 to 15 minutes on the track. We know about proper breakin oil and procedures. We were much younger then and took people at their word...not so much anymore.
The Coyote is a whole new adventure for me and I am learning more each day.

Spent a good part of the weekend working on taxes but I was able to spend a little time on the coupe on Sunday afternoon. I got most of the gauges wired into the dash and I installed a puke tank in the front. Engine bay is getting very full. None of this stuff is very exciting when it comes to the build but it must be done (and sometimes you do them 3 or 4 times until you get everything where you want it). The permenant location of the fuse box has been a bit of a challenge given the configuration of the hump over the transmission and the need to position the other Ford Coyote engine management fuse box.

Bleeding new style hyd clutch tob
I filled and bled my Clutch master cylinder the other day. I am using the same style internal master cylinder that comes on the new Shelby GT 500 (Green rubber around the spring loaded bearing) that does not have a bleed line. Here is a little trick that works really quick when bleeding the clutch.
Once you fill your reservoir with fluid and tap the clutch line a few times to get any bubbles that may be lodged along the line to the top of your master cylinder and you are still not happy with your pedal feel.
Required tools (assuming you are using a Wilwood style 5/8" master cylinder and plastic reservior): (1)Mighty Vac used for bleeding brakes etc. (2) 1 1/2" sink drain stopper (3) 1/4" drill bit (4) the black rubber sleeve that goes over your push rod that attaches between your firewall and clutch pedal.
First drill a 1/4" hole through the middle of your sink stopper, insert the sink stopper inside the black rubber sleve as mentioned above and use one of the black rubber hose adaptors that came in your might vac kit and place that aroun your drain stopper with the hose adaptor tapered end extending through the hole in your black sleeve.
Then firmly push the sink stopper into the top of your master cylinder reservior and attach the clear hose from your mighty vac to the hose adaptor and pull 25 lbs of vacuum and hole that for one minute. Then release the vacuum pressure and go inside your car and pump your clutch 10 or 12 times. Repeat this two more times and your clutch will be working properly with the desired feel.
If you like tomorrow I will post pictures of my little contraption but it works so well. This was the easiest clutch I have ever bleed.

Sometimes you just have to wait on parts and then when they arrive wrong you send them back and wait some more. I have been building these Cobras or t Coupes for almost 16 years and these things just happen. As I said earlier one step forward and two steps back....at least for now. Received two fender couplings for the conversion from 3/16" to AN3 which were both bad. Really inexpensive parts but they were machined wrong and leaked like a sieve. Replaced brake lines and AN fittings before I took a good look at the machining of the adaptors. Stuff happens.

John,
Dean Lampe and Mike Burnhardt have been in this week and I have been side tracked by ocassional beer drinking in the evenings. We are planning a tribute track day for Jay Nordstrom at one of the North Texas tracks. I will let everyone know once we get all of our ducks in a row if it is going to work out.

I got my phone back last night and the story I am told is the guy found it on the table of the restrauant and thought it was his. He realized it wasn't and called me this past Monday at work. Nice people do exist.

Since my last post I have picked up the new nose to my coupe, ordered a new driveshaft, and ordered a wiring harness for my gauges and transmission. Also, since this week has been spring break for my daughters kids in Arkansas they have been nesting with us this week. I love it but not much getting done on anything except I did mow my yard last night.

I had my driveshaft made this week by Tulsa Driveshaft specialist and they did a remarkable job. Not cheap but quality work at only $400.00. Now all I need to button up the underside is a spendometer wiring harness. Does anyone have a source for the Electronic Speed O connector for a tremec 6060 transmission plastic male connector ? I haven't had any luck finding one. Just trying to do this thing perfect without cobbling up some radio shack connectors.
Thanks in advance for any help.
