To get across the border you see, you must answer me these questions three.
1: What is your name?
2: What is your quest?
3: What is the physical age of your kit car?
15 is the number you must have, and the number thy should be able to count is 15.

1) Does anything stop you from buying, breaking it up into parts and then shipping?
2) Does anything stop you from buying it & sitting on it for a few years till maturation and the 15 year rule is met (we have a "similar" 30yr rule in Aus I know guys who buy and wait it out)?
Just thinking out side the box... hoping it may help.
PS: Darth Menace - FWIW: mrmustang (Bill) is fairly well respected for his knowledge in this area. While his post may have come across abrasively, I'm going to guess, judging only by his past posts, that he meant no harm.
You could do a lot worse than to take advise from him on these matters IMHO.
Also in full disclosure. I've never personally met Bill nor do I speak for him, but, just offering my humble observations.
Good luck in your quest.

1: It's been tried before (going both ways across the border with various cars/makes/models), a certain CSX4000 series just got caught up in this scam of the system and was on Ebay "for export only" (neither to the US, Canada, or the UK I believe). Owner of the car lost his investment when it got impounded by the powers that be. Then sold at a government auction, again for "Export Only". Never to darken either countries sovereignty ever again.
2: No reason why you cannot do so, I know of an early LHD ERA sitting in storage awaiting a trip to Australia when it's time has come.

I'm really curious how someone wanting a Coupe got derailed into this particular CSX car that got caught "in the system"? Someone breaking the law got caught. Intentional or not, and if not, they should have known better. Unknowing or not, it's too bad, but as they say "ignorance of the law is no excuse", but again, what does that have to do with the price of tea in china?

I guess option 1) is therefore seemingly not legal... Best stay well away from that!
As for option 2) I'd love to do the same for an ERA (particularly for 289).
Let me know if you come across any others, with full documentation.

While I am sure that Bill did not mean to sound abrasive, he did, and so do others at one time or another, including myself.
What the OP has to think about is that most people on this forum have heard the same questions 1,000+ times and sometimes get a bit short with our answers. Sometimes being short about something comes across as being rude.
Of course some poeple are just rude and you can take what they say with a grain of salt. Some people just want to antagonize (sp) people and what better way than on a forum where you are invisable.
We on this forum have to remember that we "ALL" were newbe's at one point and we should take that into concideration.
And for the O/P, most of the people on this forum are here to give help and receive it also. I know that Bill has helped more people on this forum that I can count.
Ok, I have said what I wanted to say.

Bill,
When did Factory Five start producing the coupe kits?
i.e., how long until someone can import an early one to Canada?
