A bit more and another go cart ride....
I got a little time to work on the coupe today and finally got around to installing a JBL steering wheel quick release. Anybody looking for a high quality item Richard has done himself proud with such a great product! No shake, slop or wobble this is the best hub I have seen.
I found a nice MOMO wheel on ebay and put it all together with the new roadster column from Flaming River(another nice product)!
So if it steers has brakes, and the throttle works why not go for a spin?
Again I live in pretty rural area, so the spirited jaunt without licence or lights was not much of a concern, I didn't even take the cell phone with me, how's that for trusting your building skills?
Drove for over 5 miles, the little 331 with webers is way to much fun! The lightweight flywheel spins up so quick and the torque is incredible, who would have thought?
Anyway, I think the coupe is going to get paint soon, the wife still says purple.......
Any ideas on how I can get around that?

Scott, tell the wife your car is as close to an original as it can get and purple was not an original color. Tell her guardsman blue is a lighter shade of purple and paint it that.

She Has Been Pretty Good To You ...
Based on the number of toys she has LET you have and get rid of, just to get a new one, maybe, just maybe, naaaa, purple has got to go.
Did you get her the TR7, I think a new Boxter would be better!!!
Glad to hear the webs are working - alot of work to get them right the first time?

Thorin, after I changed to my "custom" linkage it really wasn't that bad, with the flow metter and a handheld tach it only took and hour or so.
I will have to put some real time on a track to make sure they are correct.

Okay it has been awhile...
The rain has been unrelenting here in the VERY wet west so I was able to spend some time on the Coupe. I have been struggling with the front indicators and running lights until I found a integrated system. Not anywhere near stock but I bet ol Shel would have used them if they were available.
Cutting out the headlight covers was not to bad, I used a Rotozip for the rough work and then a small sander to get the finished fit.
What do you think?

I don't know if I have lost interest or just way to busy to get to work on the Coupe project.
Starting to think about selling it, maybe I have builders doldrums.

Scott, what do you have left to do? It's a coupe man, it's cool, it has webers, it's sleek, sexy, and your wifes hair won't blow around. You gotta get that thing done for the July vintage races at PIR.
You'll regret selling it before it's done, so JUST DO IT! I know you like the build more than anything, but that is going to be a beautiful and special ride, Scott. Hang in there.

Thanks! I needed that.....
Been out in the shop this morning, remounted the sidepipes, put some new gas in, going to see if it will start.
I might be back on task.

Scott -- The weather channel says that its suppose to be up to 58 in Sublimity by 2pm. Get her running and enjoy the rest of today in the car. You will be recharged and ready to put the finishing touches on her. To borrow from someone else on this site" drive it like ya stole it"

Yes it looks as if it may be a great day here.
Do you live anywhere near Black Cat Rd?
I spent a few days every summer on my Great Aunts farm there in the 60's.
I still may sell the coupe, but I want to be sure it is a complete roller first.

I live just off of Meridian Road near Eagle Island (close to the river). The Black Cat Rd. area is rapidly switching from farms to housing developments. Doesn't look much like it did in the 60's. But besides our cars, not much else does either.

It's running so imagine you own sound!
I took it on a couple of mile run, it was pretty breazy but I think this maybe the quickest Cobra I have built yet. The engine runs very smooth and the throttle response is incredible!
